Krasnodar hosted reception of the student delegation from sister city Karlsruhe (FRG)

The formal reception of students’ delegation from University of Applied Sciences of Karlsruhe who arrived in Krasnodar under international project “Summer school of the Russian language” took place in Krasnodar City Hall. The reception was led by Acting Head of Krasnodar Alexander Mikheev.

— Cooperation of Krasnodar and Karlsruhe is actively developing in different areas: healthcare, sport, culture and education. The next year our cooperation marks the 25th anniversary. We implement many programmes, fill them with new contents and also create new ones. This year alone some delegations from the German sister city have visited Krasnodar. Another visit in our city is to participate the Russian language learning educational programme — one more evidence of that our sister city relations are developing dynamically and efficiently. I’m sure that it is merely the beginning of a big friendship between our cities, — Alexander Mikheev said.

Also among participants of the meeting were Chairwoman of Krasnodar City Duma Vera Galushko, Deputy Head of Krasnodar Liliana Yegorova, deputy Chief of administrative department, Chief of the Department of foreign relations and protocol of Krasnodar administration Boris Staroselskiy, students and lecturers of Kuban State University.

— While staying in Krasnodar you are developing your practical skills of Russian language immediately through intercourse with your agemates. It is important that during the visit you have the opportunity to form a clear view of our country, region and Krasnodar. Talented young people from Karlsruhe regularly visit us and our friendly ties cannot be broken. We will certainly continue strengthen our cooperation in different areas, — Vera Galushko said.

Over 17 years of cooperation between universities of Krasnodar and Karlsruhe prolific contacts have been set in mathematics and physics, the Romano-Germanic philology and Russian language.

The German delegation included 12 students from one of the most prominent universities of Karlsruhe — University of Applied Sciences. Head of the German delegation is the project manager — the Russian and French interpreter, lecturer of the Russian language and intercultural practices course Rolf Junghanns.

— We have been staying here since August 19 and have already got very positive impressions: fully realized Krasnodar’s hospitality and perceived special cordiality of Kuban people. We acquire new information keenly.  Friendly ties of our students help to learn better the Russian language. And their mutual intercourse makes the friendship even closer, — Rolf Junghanns said.

Students from Germany told about their tour around Krasnodar’s sightseeing attractions, visits to the city establishments of culture and how they communicated with citizens.

“Summer school of the Russian language” for students from University of Applied Sciences of Karlsruhe started in Kuban State University in 2014. Over two years 17 students completed the course.

Cooperation between Kuban State University and University of Karlsruhe has developed since 1999 in the area of economic sciences, optoelectronics and informatics.

Karlsruhe is one of sixth sister cities of Krasnodar. In 1992 the cities signed common agreement on establishing friendship relations and in 1997 concluded the sister cities agreement.  Later in the German city “Karlsruhe-Krasnodar Friendship Association” was created.
