The development of youth contacts and implementation of joint projects were the main topics at the meeting of Krasnodar's Mayor Evgeny Pervyshov and Chairwoman of the City Duma Vera Galushko with a youth delegation of the sister city Karlsruhe (Germany), that arrived in the capital of Kuban on Thursday. The delegation includes representatives of youth centers "Oststadt" and "WEST" and the Committee for youth affairs of Karlsruhe.
— Sister city relations of Krasnodar and Karlsruhe have lasted for more than 25 years. The first ties originated on the initiative of the youth of our cities when the first youth exchanges took place. And today this direction of our cooperation is one of the most promising and rapidly developing. The number of bilateral youth projects grows every year. The projects have been successfully implemented in the field of general and vocational education, sports, culture. And these contacts between the young generations of our cities are most valuable. The exchange of ideas, joint creative work, new friends — these are the informal links, which in the future will surely become a strong foundation for the deepening of Krasnodar-Karlsruhe sister city relations. I'm sure, you'll get fun and positive experience from the meeting with Krasnodar!" said Evgeny Pervyshov.
The reception was also attended by Deputy Mayor of Krasnodar Sergey Luzinov and Chief of the department of youth affairs Georgy Pronkin.
Youth delegation from Karlsruhe arrived in Krasnodar on Thursday, July 26, in the framework of the new international dance project and will stay in the Kuban capital until August 1. During the reception in the City Hall the representatives of the German sister city shared their first impressions of Krasnodar. Someone have already visited Krasnodar, for some — it's the first acquaintance with the city. Then participants discussed new joint projects being implemented in 2018.
"Relations between Krasnodar and Karlsruhe are developing in many directions, and the youth of our cities succeed in this respect considerably. Your energy, enthusiasm, openness to everything new allow implementing various projects and initiatives aimed at the promotion of friendship between Krasnodar and Karlsruhe. I'm sure we have a lot of discoveries and interesting events ahead," said Vera Galushko.
One of the most large-scale projects of 2018 - in period of May 18-27 Karlsruhe hosted the "YouConf-2018" trilateral conference with participation of 30 young people from three countries: Karlsruhe (Germany) and Krasnodar (Russia) and Karlsruhe's sister city — Nancy (France). The conference discussed a variety of issues. In the future, similar conferences will be held: in 2019 — in Nancy, and in 2020 — in Krasnodar.
Another area of youth exchanges which is being successfully implemented — training and practice for young specialists at the enterprises. From August 4 to September 1, 2018, under an internship programme 5 foreign students will come to Krasnodar. Two students from Karlsruhe will undergo practical training at the enterprises of CLAAS and Knauf, two students from Harbin (China) at the company of Cargill and one French student from Nancy — at the Bonduelle plant.
A joint initiative of Krasnodar and Karlsruhe was greatly appreciated at the gevernmental level of the two countries. Following the results of the contest for the best Russian-German projects — The Russian Federation Government Diplomas were awarded two youth joint projects — the trilateral conference "YouConf — 2018" and a joint concert of youth orchestras of sister cities with the participation of the Krasnodar band "New Wave" and the Youth orchestra of Karlsruhe.
The first youth exchange that pioneered a friendship and later a partnership between Krasnodar and Karlsruhe took place in 1979.
