This is the first such agreement involving the cities of Europe and Russia. In addition, as part of a working visit to Nancy, Karlsruhe and Wels (Austria) the delegation of Krasnodar led by Evgeny Pervyshov held a series of business meetings and negotiations as well as signed several international agreements. Among them is the first in the last 25 years partnership agreement with a French city.
"This is a unique event and unique experience, we have signed the trilateral cooperation agreement between Krasnodar, Karlsruhe and Nancy. It is symbolic that we sign such an agreement in the year of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of sister city links between Krasnodar and Karlsruhe, which is in turn the sister city of Nancy. So, together with our foreign friends, we are starting to build a network of partner cities in Europe, we are pioneers in this direction, and we hope that other cities will follow our example," said Evgeny Pervyshov in City Hall of Karlsruhe at the time of signing the agreement.
The Mayor of Krasnodar also added that thanks to sister city ties, cooperation with the cities of Europe was successfully developing despite the difficult international political environment and was based on the principles of mutual respect, mutual understanding and tolerance.
"I think we can continue the successful cooperation between our cities in the field of youth contacts, education and culture. Besides that, together we plan to develop projects in the fields of sports and health care. Today we attach particular importance to the development of economic contacts, as well as to the promotion of projects in the area of exhibitions," noted Evgeny Pervyshov.
The delegation of Krasnodar also included the Chairwoman of the City Duma Vera Galushko, deputies of the City Duma, and Vice-Mayor of Krasnodar Dmitry Logvinenko.
In the Austrian Wels the Mayor of Krasnodar held talks with the president of the exhibition company of the city, discussed the possibility of holding joint exhibitions. Evgeny Pervyshov also talked to the leaders of major Austrian companies in economic chamber of the city. In addition, the delegation of Krasnodar visited the waste-incineration plant in Wels.
The outcome of the visit to Austria was the signing of a memorandum of intent and partnership of cities with the signatures of Evgeny Pervyshov and the Mayor of Wels Dr. Andreas Rabl. The return visit of the delegation of the city of Wels is scheduled for the end of November. It is expected that Krasnodar will be visited by the Burgomaster and Vice-Burgomasters of Wels, representatives of the business community. Austrian colleagues look forward to get acquainted with the city, to negotiate in administration of the Kuban capital and to participate in the exhibition "Yugagro".
In Nancy (France) Krasnodar delegation met with representatives of business, educational, medical and social organizations. Evgeny Pervyshov and the Mayor of Nancy Laurent Hénart signed a bilateral partnership agreement between the two cities in the presence of the Russian Consul-General in Strasbourg Valery Levitsky.
The signing of the treaty between Krasnodar and Nancy is the first such agreement in last 25 years that the French city signs. Such a decision in June 2017 was unanimously supported in the city Parliament of Nancy.
In Karlsruhe representatives of Krasnodar held talks with representatives of the German city-sister clinic, with representatives of the youth affairs committee. Krasnodar's delegation members also visited the office of the German company, which was engaged in building and maintenance of roads, the organization of road traffic, including public transport.
Another important event in international relations of Krasnodar, was the signing in Karlsruhe's City Hall of the trilateral cooperation agreement between Krasnodar, Nancy and Karlsruhe. The document was signed by Evgeny Pervyshov, Mayor of Nancy Laurent Hénart and Oberburgermeister of Karlsruhe Dr. Frank Mentrup.
The document suggests that the cities "will continue and expand existing cooperation through the implementation of projects and activities at the trilateral level within their capabilities". As also "to facilitate the exchange in trilateral partnership with a view to achieving better understanding and the preservation of freedom and peace". This is the first such agreement to involve the cities of Europe and Russia.
In June 2017, the capital of Kuban became the venue for the international level event — the XIV Conference of Russian and German Partner Cities. It was held from 28 to 30 June.
The conference was opened by Sergey Lavrov, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, and Vice Chancellor, Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany, Sigmar Gabriel.
Karlsruhe is a city in the federal state of Baden-Württemberg in Germany. It is one of six sister cities of Krasnodar. In 1992, a joint statement by the cities on the establishment of friendly relations was signed between Karlsruhe and Krasnodar and a twinning arrangement was signed in 1997. Through the mediation of the German sister city Krasnodar has began to develop friendly ties with the French city of Nancy, the sister city of Karlsruhe. Student exchanges between Nancy and Krasnodar were organized for the first time in 2017.
