The first in 25 years partnership agreement with a French city will be signed between Nancy and Krasnodar

This will be one of key events of the working visit to a number of European cities of the delegation of Krasnodar headed by Kuban capital's Mayor Evgeny Pervyshov and Krasnodar City Duma Chairwoman Vera Galushko.

"In June this year, Krasnodar held one of the most successful conferences of the Russian and German partner cities. It has received great feedback and high ratings at the level of leadership of the diplomatic missions of the two countries. The Ministers of Foreign Affairs noted the need to expand and strengthen friendship precisely between the cities of Europe and Russia and the development of "people's diplomacy". We have carefully prepared for this visit. We see that our colleagues also consider it important to develop partnerships. And I am glad that this working trip will result in the signing of several unique agreements with the cities of Europe," said Evgeny Pervyshov.

The delegation of Krasnodar will visit three European cities on a working visit: Wels (Austria), Nancy (France) and Karlsruhe (Germany). The trip agenda includes a number of business meetings and negotiations with the business community of each country. To share the experience it is also planned to visit several enterprises, particularly in the areas of housing and community services, health, road construction and maintenance and also managing of public transport.

The most important events envisaged by the visit program are the signing of a memorandum of intent and partnership between Wels and Krasnodar, a partnership agreement between Nancy and Krasnodar. It is remarkable that in the last 25 years, Nancy is the first of the French cities to sign such an agreement with the city of another country.

Another unique event in international relations, twinning and partnership of cities will be the signing in Karlsruhe of the trilateral cooperation agreement between Krasnodar, Nancy and Karlsruhe.

The document suggests that the cities "will continue and expand existing cooperation through the implementation of projects and activities at the trilateral level within their capabilities". As also "to facilitate the exchange in trilateral partnership with a view to achieving better understanding and the preservation of freedom and peace". This is the first such agreement to involve the cities of Europe and Russia.

The XIV Conference of Russian and German partner cities was named: "Establishing contacts — initiating projects — strengthening of trust: the impulses for the development of German-Russian links." It was held in Krasnodar in June 2017.

Karlsruhe is a city in the federal state of Baden-Württemberg in Germany. It is one of six sister cities of Krasnodar. In 1992, a joint statement by the cities on the establishment of friendly relations was signed between Karlsruhe and Krasnodar and a twinning arrangement was signed in 1997. Through the mediation of the German sister city Krasnodar has began to develop friendly ties with the French city of Nancy, the sister city of Karlsruhe. Student exchanges between Nancy and Krasnodar were organized for the first time in 2017.
