During today’s press conference with the participation of federal, regional and municipal mass media journalists Head of Krasnodar told about reasons that make him to run as a candidate for the deputies in the lower chamber of the Russian Parliament.
Vladimir Evlanov dwelled on the main achievements of the city over the last 12 years. According to his opinion the city has succeeded in many spheres and branches, has become an investment attractive one and now takes leading positions in Russia on the quality of living, volumes of residential housing construction and urban amenities creation. Regional center population has grown by a quarter, Krasnodar has actually become a city with a million-plus population. There were also landmark changes in the city look.
On the other hand, while as the city was quickly growing and developing a number of critical problems emerged. Mainly they are related to the city planning standards, lack of social and engineering infrastructure facilities in new microdistricts, overloading of existing transport system.
— Today we need some kind of rethinking and reloading. Many of problems of a big city can be solved at the federal level, our city should more actively participate in various programmes. We also need to adjust many issues of the federal legislation which concern big cities. We need strong “Krasnodar lobby” that will look after the interests of Krasnodar and Kuban Region. Practitioners knowing the situation on the ground should work in the State Duma, — Vladimir Evlanov underlined.
Head of Krasnodar emphasized that he has the greatest respect for current deputies of the State Duma who represent our city in the lower chamber of the Russian Parliament but over the last years Krasnodar has received no financial assistance from them.
He also added that there are particular disparity and injustice – presently we can see a huge demand on municipality, all people with their requests and problems go to municipal administration though administrations of cities have few possibilities, including financial resources. There are practically no resources for capital investments to build schools, kindergartens, polyclinics and roads.
Responding to numerous questions of journalists concerning city problems and the upcoming elections Vladimir Evlanov said that he is hoping for the support of citizens during primaries and elections in September.
