Evgeny Pervyshov hosted the reception of foreign delegations in honor of the City Day of Krasnodar

This morning the Mayor of Krasnodar and Chairwoman of the City Duma Vera Galushko greeted official foreign delegations that had come to celebrate the 224th anniversary of the founding of Yekaterinodar-Krasnodar.

— In this hall today we meet the delegations of our most active sister cities and partners: Karlsruhe (Germany), Burgas (Bulgaria), Yerevan (Armenia). Also, the representatives of the Austrian city of Wels, who came to visit us for the second time on the occasion of the City Day and members of the diplomatic structures of different countries. I'm glad we're celebrating our main city holiday together," said Evgeny Pervyshov.

Krasnodar's Mayor also noted that despite the complex international environment, sister city relations and partnerships of Krasnodar with many cities continue to develop, and contacts in the educational, humanitarian and business spheres are being strengthened.

"We are proud of the history of our city and of those people who laid a solid foundation for today's development and prosperity in the capital of Kuban," said Vera Galushko.
Oberbürgermeister of Karlsruhe Frank Mentrup emphasized that Krasnodar and Karlsruhe continued to develop friendships even in difficult times, and were happy to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of sister city links this year.

"Our cooperation is an example to other cities, and we expand our experience further. One month later, in the end of October, in Karlsruhe, we are going to sign a trilateral cooperation agreement between Krasnodar, Karlsruhe and Nancy (France), another of our sister cities," said Frank Mentrup.

The Chairman of the Committee on International Cooperation of the City Council of Burgas Atanasov Georgy Drazhev, speaking at the reception, expressed the hope that the relationship between the cities would also be successfully developed.

The adviser to the Mayor of Yerevan Arayik Kotanjian, in his turn, stressed that in Krasnodar representatives of many nationalities lived in peace and harmony, and that was the merit of both the citizens and the city authorities.

For the second year the City Day is attended by representatives of the Austrian city of Wels. A representative of Wels City Hall Herbert Schlair said that the twinning of Krasnodar and Karlsruhe were considered as an exemplary, and Austrian colleagues would like to learn from this experience.

Then the parties exchanged welcoming addresses, Frank Mentrup presented Evgeny Pervyshovu a model of one of the first bicycles, which is believed to have been invented 200 years ago by Professor Karl Drais of Karlsruhe.

The sister cities of Krasnodar are Karlsruhe (Germany), Burgas (Bulgaria), Ferrara (Italy), Tallahassee (USA), Harbin (PRC). The partner cities are Nottingham (United Kingdom), and Sukhumi (Abkhazia). In October 2014, an agreement on interaction and cooperation between Krasnodar and the city of Yerevan was signed.

In June 2017, the capital of Kuban became the venue for the international level event — the XIV Conference of Russian and German Partner Cities. It was held from 28 to 30 June.
