The performance of German musicians Marcus Kappis and Ellen Becht was held in Krasnodar municipal concert hall for organ and chamber music within the sister city relations of Krasnodar and Karlsruhe. The concert was attended by Mayor of Kuban capital Evgeny Pervyshov and Mayor of Karlsruhe Frank Mentrup.
"Today, on the eve of the major celebrations devoted to the 224th anniversary of Krasnodar, this is an important cultural event which was prepared by our friends from the sister city of Karlsruhe. I am glad that in the year of the 25th anniversary of sister city relations, our ties with Karlsruhe are actively being developed in all spheres. I have no doubt that this will be an excellent event and a good gift for the City Day," said Evgeny Pervyshov.
In introducing the concert, the city Mayor and Krasnodar's City Duma Chairwoman Vera Galushko presented the honorary certificates to the initiators of Krasnodar-Karlsruhe relations, those who made a significant contribution to the development of cooperation between the two cities.
The concert of the German duo from the city-sister of Karlsruhe gathered a full room of guests: numerous citizens and members of the German delegation have come.
"For a quarter of a century Krasnodar and Karlsruhe have close partnership that has long ago grown into a strong friendship. Contacts in the fields of education, healthcare, sports, youth policy and, of course, culture are being actively developed. Many projects have been implemented over the years of sister city links. It is hoped that the performance of the duo from Karlsruhe will be remembered as a reflection of the diversity of European culture. Music is the language that unites us all," said Frank Mentrup.
The concert featured the works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Robert Schumann, Michael Balfe, Hans Galya, Paul Ben-Haim, Béla Bartók, Madeleine Dring, Bert Appermont.
Previously, in honour of the 25th anniversary of the friendly links between Krasnodar and Karlsruhe, as well as in the run-up to the City Day at the museum of Kovalenko the start was given to a joint project of sister-city art museums. That ceremony was attended by the delegation of the Association of Friendship of Karlsruhe-Krasnodar.
