The foreign Ministers of Russia and Germany awarded Krasnodar for cooperation with Karlsruhe

Event dedicated to the closing of the Year of Russian-German regional and municipal partnerships was held in Berlin. At the ceremony of summing up the Year the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov and the Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of Germany Heiko Maas handed the Mayor of Krasnodar Evgeny Pervyshov honorary diploma for a significant contribution to the development of regional-municipal cooperation between Russia and Germany.

"It is a great event for Krasnodar that we are noted at the level of Ministries of foreign Affairs of Russia and Germany. On behalf of all the residents of the city I thank you for the appreciation of our work. It is also important that this is a joint evaluation of the development of inter-municipal projects of Krasnodar and Karlsruhe in the scale of Russian-German relations. For sure, our main task is the preservation and further development of joint projects, strengthening friendship between our cities and countries," said Evgeny Pervyshov.

The event dedicated to the closing of the Year of Russian-German regional and municipal partnerships was attended by the Chairwoman of the City Duma Vera Galushko, Deputy Mayor of the city Liliana Yegorova, Chief of the Department of Youth Affairs Georgy Pronkin, Deputy chief of Administrative Department, chief of the Department of foreign relations and protocol of Krasnodar administration Boris Staroselskiy, Chief doctor of emergency care hospital Nikolay Bosak.

The project of Krasnodar and Karlsruhe "Internships and refresher courses for doctors and nurses" is recognized as one of the best joint projects between Russia and Germany implemented at the municipal level.

Along with the Mayor of Krasnodar, Oberburgermeister of Karlsruhe Frank Mentrup also received honorary diploma for a significant contribution to the development of regional-municipal cooperation between Russia and Germany.

During their trip to Berlin Evgeny Pervushov and Vera Galushko also visited Treptower Park, laid flowers at the Memorial to Soviet soldier-liberator.

The competition for joint projects was organized in the framework of the Year of Russian-German regional and municipal partnerships. In addition to the healthcare project, the sister-cities also made other two applications: "International gathering of orchestras of the sister-cities "Come together 2017" and "The project of youth conference "YouConf: The taste of life 1918-1968-2018".

The Year of Russian-German regional and municipal partnerships was announced in June 2017 during the XIV Conference of partner cities of Russia and Germany, which took place in Krasnodar.

This Conference was the first one held not in the capital region, which was attended by chiefs of diplomatic missions of the two countries: the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov and, at that time, Vice-Chancellor, the Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of Germany Sigmar Gabriel.

The joint statement of the cities on the establishment of friendly relations was signed between Karlsruhe and Krasnodar in 1992, and in 1997 the parties signed the sister cities agreement. More than 25 years of friendship and cooperation resulted in regular student exchanges, doctors internships and other joint projects between Karlsruhe and Krasnodar.
