Over 14 thousand people came to Pushkin Square in solidarity to Crimea residents who had voted in a referendum for accession to the Russian Federation. Leading political and public figures spoke during the meeting.
— A historic event that will go down in history of unity of nations happened in the Kremlin two hours ago. Reunion of Russia and Crimea is especially important for people of the older generation who shed their blood for liberation of the peninsula from Nazi invaders. And now we are going to strengthen friendship relations between Russia, Kuban and Crimea, — chairman of the city council of veterans Ivan Rybalko said.
The rally organized by Krasnodar local branch of All-Russian political party “United Russia” was totally participated by nearly 14 thousand people including party members, supporters of party, representatives of regional social movement “For the Faith, Kuban an Fatherland!”, regional branch of All-Russian social movement “The people’s front “For Russia”, representatives of government authorities, local branches of the other political parties, Cossacks, veteran and youth public associations, students and ordinary citizens.
Together with Krasnodar citizens Head of the city Vladimir Evlanov and chairwoman of Krasnodar City Duma Vera Galushko came to support Russia’s stance on Crimea.
Chairman of Krasnodar Region Legislative Assembly Committee on local government, administrative-territorial system and social and economic development Nikolay Petropavlovsky addressed the audience from the stage and shared his impressions of a journey to Crimea:
— We have seen thousands of people with full happiness tears in their eyes. In rain and windflaws we have seen smiling and greeting senior citizens wringing their umbrellas and going to vote in a referendum. Crimea peoples give their reverence to Kuban for all rendered support. Indeed, Kuban became the first who extended a helping hand to the neighbor!
In the end of meeting attended people accepted a resolution in favor of Crimea and Russia’s stance on Ukraine.
It is to be recalled that pro-Ukrainian fraternal people rally took place in Krasnodar on March 2.
