The 14th conference of Russian and German sister-cities will be held in June 2017 in Krasnodar

That decision has been taken during the meeting of Krasnodar Head Vladimir Evlanov and representatives of the German-Russian format delegations and International Association “Twinned cities” which took place in Krasnodar City Hall today.

— I’m happy to welcome members of delegations of the German-Russian format and International Association “Twinned cities”. The past year we took part in such forum which was organized in our sister city Karlsruhe. We discussed topics related to intermunicipal cooperation. The forum was participated by nearly 400 people – representatives of 50 Russian and 30 German cities. Krasnodar has relevant experience and I am sure we have much to tell about and share. Our city will become a platform for the Russian and German sister cities representatives to discuss the issues of international cooperation, — Vladimir Evlanov said.

In his speech Head of the capital of Kuban emphasized that the holding such conferences in current complicated international situation is of particular significance for the development of dialogue, establishing new contacts and giving impetus to further cooperation in different spheres and areas, first of all — in economy, culture and youth policy.

Vladimir Evlanov told representatives of the German delegation about social and economic development of regional center, achievements in the construction sphere and agroindustrial complex, trade and consumer services and the work of leading Krasnodar’s companies with foreign capital.

The German delegation of the German-Russian forum included executive director and member of management board of the Forum Martin Hoffman, the project head manager Anna Keizer, the project manager assistant Marcel Blessing-Shumilin and Chairman of the West-East Federal Union of the German Societies Peter Franke.  The meeting was also attended by member of management board of International Association “Twinned cities” Olga Zakharova.

Krasnodar administration was also represented by First Deputy Head of Krasnodar Alexander Mikheev, Deputy Head of Krasnodar Sergey Vasin, Chief of administrative department Viktor Kudinov, Director of the department of economic development, investments and external affairs Elena Vasilchenko, Deputy Chief of administrative department and Chief of the department of foreign relations and protocol of Krasnodar administration Boris Staroselskiy.

Representatives of Krasnodar’s business-sector Chairman of Krasnodar Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry Alexander Tkachenko, Director General of LLC “CLAAS”, Honorary consul of the Federal Republic of Germany in Krasnodar Dr. Ralf Bendish, Chairman of Southern regional committee of European Business Association Oleg Zharko, LLC “KrasnodarEXPO” Director General Elena Talnova and Exhibition and Congress venue “Expograd-Yug” Director General Dmitry Sevastianov attended the meeting.

During the meeting participants decided the date for the 14th conference of Russian and German sister-cities. It will be held in the period June 27-30, 2017.

— In these tough times it is of utmost importance to organize such conferences. I came to Krasnodar for the first time but I’m sure that our delegation which will arrive here to take part in the conference will be impressed with the city as much as myself, — Martin Hoffman said.

He highlighted the importance of people's diplomacy as one of the main levers of enhancing the dialogue between Russia and Germany. He also remarked that in order to achieve the maximum effect the conference should be participated by as many cities from both countries as possible. In Martin Hoffman’s opinion the conference is suggested to receive 300-350 participants, and about 150 of them are cities from Germany.

In his turn, Chairman of Krasnodar Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry Alexander Tkachenko assured that the city is ready to receive a representative delegation and able to organize the event of such a high level. Honorary consul of the FRG in Krasnodar Dr. Ralf Bendish supported the statement.

I live and work in Krasnodar for more than 13 years and I can assure that all the events of the coming conference will be organized at the highest level. The city can do this, it has accumulated experience and all the necessary resources, — Ralf Bendish said.

The German-Russian conference is an international event aimed at the strengthening bilateral relations of Germany and Russia. It is held once every two years.
