Harvest-work within Kuban capital suburban farmings is close to completion. To the middle of July spiked cereals and grain legume crops are reaped over an area of almost 7,5 thousand hectares (nearly 80% of plan target), over 43 thousand tons of grain are threshed. An average crop yield is 58,5 centners per hectare (it is higher than indicator of 2013 by 6,4 c/ha and higher than average indicator throughout the Region by 4,9 c/ha). Totally 75 combined harvesters, 11 gathering groups and 94 machine operators work at harvesting.
— Krasnodar is the only regional capital city within the territory of the whole county that has developed agroindustrial complex and enjoys a persistent status of “agrarian city”. There is a good background for the development of agrarian sector in the city: great amount of plowed lands, significant scientific base and well-adjusted production of agricultural equipment. Today there are 25 large-scale agricultural enterprises in the city; farming and subsidiary individual holdings are developing. Agroindustrial complex is one of top-priority and successful branches of Krasnodar economy. Of course, work-study farming “Kuban” is an absolute leader in agro-production. The farming not only performs high indicators of yield but also is the training base for agriculturalist and scientific personnel, — Vladimir Evlanov said during his visit to work-study farming “Kuban” where harvesting of spiked cereals is close to completion.
Krasnodar Mayor had a look at the process of harvest of “Vassa” sort wheat. Director of the farming Timofei Logoida told Vladimir Evlanov about this year results and development of the farming in whole.
Work-study farming “Kuban” was created in 1961 as being structural unit of Kuban State Agrarian University. Today this unit is multiple-product farming with total land area — 7475 hectares.
Today the enterprise consists of 3 subdivisions including 3 field working groups and 5 livestock-rearing farms with 400 cows population, hennery numbering 15 thousand egg-production chickens, horse-breeding farm and production-study complex “Piglet” with 3 thousand pigs. There are also feedcenter, slaughter and oil workshop.
Yearly work-study farming produces nearly 15 thousand tons of cereal crops with average productivity — 65 centners per hectare. Apart from cereal crops, the farming produces sunflower, soy and forage seeds.
