Festive events dedicated to Day of Kuban Cossacks and 320th anniversary of Kuban Cossack Army were held in Krasnodar today. Acting Head of Krasnodar Alexander Mikheev congratulated Cossacks of Yekaterinodar division.
— Over the years Cossacks history as well as the history of our country were full of heroic and tragical events, nevertheless Cossacks have always been of faith, spirituality, devotion to Motherland and love to Kuban land. Together with Yekaterinodar district Cossacks society we conduct consistent and systematic work on implementing the national Cossacks policy. Today in Cossacks people see real power and prop for national identity, — Alexander Mikheev said.
In his speech acting Head of Krasnodar emphasized that in Krasnodar there is most numerous in the whole region Cossack retinue which safeguards public order and work with the younger generation. There are 182 Cossack school classes and 75 groups to the total amount almost seven thousand people in the city.
Solemn event was held at a landmark place for Cossacks — near to the monument of Catherine the Great. The event was attended by Heads of a number of cities and districts of the region, Chairman of Krasnodar Region Legislative Assembly Committee on military issues, safety and upbringing pre-conscription youth and on Cossacks Eugene Shendrik, First Deputy Chairman of Krasnodar city Duma Victor Timofeev, deputy Director of the department of Cossacks and servicemen of Krasnodar Region Anastasiy Voroshilov, Deputy Ataman of Kuban Cossacks Army, sergeant-major Konstantin Perenizhko, Deputy Head of Krasnodar Sergey Vasin, deputies of regional Legislative Assembly and City Duma of Krasnodar.
On the square Cossack squads were greeted by Ataman of Yekaterinodar division of Kuban Cossacks Army Victor Svetlichnyy.
— I congratulate everybody for whom the Cossacks life is a lifestyle and mode of thought. I congratulate those ones whose grandfathers and grand grandfathers defended our Motherland till their last breath. The day reminds us the glorious and unbelievably difficult distance covered by Cossacks. Whatever anybody may claim and falsify history, Cossacks have helped contribute to the evolvement of the country and left their mark in the world history, — Victor Svetlichnyy said.
The event was participated by over thousand Cossacks of Yekaterinodar division, representatives of council of old men, cadets, servicemen and five hundred school children from Cossacks classes.
The colour group brought flag of Yekaterinodar division to the square, the anthems of Russia and Kuban were played and also a thanksgiving service was held.
The most distinguished in public service Cossacks received important awards on behalf of Governor of Kuban Veniamin Kondratiev, Ataman of Kuban Cossacks Army Nikolay Doluda and Ataman of Yekaterinodar Cossacks division.
Then attended the event Heads of Krasnodar Region municipalities awarded Cossacks from their municipal districts. Alexander Mikheev presented office equipment certificates for the work in district headquarters of Cossacks. Particularly distinguished Cossacks received poniards.
