Exhibition complex “Ataman” celebrated commemorative date — the 224th anniversary of first Black Sea Cossacks landing at Taman. Annual festival brought together representatives of all municipalities of Krasnodar Region and the capital of Kuban. Krasnodar’s delegation was led by Acting Head of Krasnodar Alexander Mikheev.
Official start to the festival was given by Kuban Governor Veniamin Kondratiev and Deputy Head of the Region Nikolay Doluda.
— We are on sacred land, Taman. Here is our Motherland, our origins. 224 years ago Cossacks have entered this very land and called it home, — Veniamin Kondratiev said.
The central event of the festive day was horse-riding show at racing field in Ataman. Bright theatrical performance “Legends of Taman: tale of a Cossack and a dove” went before the horse show. Horse races were held for the prizes of Krasnodar Region Governor and ataman of Kuban Cossacks Army.
When the festival at the racing field had been completed, Veniamin Kondratiev visited Cossacks’ huts, talked to owners and guests of farmsteads. One of first viewed farmsteads was Krasnodar’s hut of ataman.
— Regional festival “Legends of Kuban” is an outstanding event. Delegation of Krasnodar takes part in this regional festival every year. This time again, workers of different branches of social sphere, representatives of Krasnodar urban districts, dozens artists, members of creative amateur collectives did their best to create original atmosphere of Cossacks’ day-to-day routine, and in special way to decorate Krasnodar’s farmstead, — Alexander Mikheev commented.
Chief of Culture Centre of Krasnodar Irina Lukinskaya said that at the festival of this year Krasnodar delegation presented costume performance “Maiden’s dreams”. The story tells about a dove that helped Cossack’s heart to find love and start a family.
Script and thematic decoration of ataman hut’s farmstead were prepared by specialists of Culture Centre of Krasnodar. Krasnodar Cossack’s kuren was designed as interactive ground where all of the guests had the opportunity to make photos, look at exhibition of products of national crafts, unique exhibits of Cossacks’ everyday life collected in ataman’s hut and to taste Kuban food and wines. The farmstead was arrayed with a number of handmade dove figures made of fabric, straw and decorative materials.
Also on the stage of Krasnodar’s farmstead there were performances of creative collectives “Elizavetinskaya villagers” of rural Centre of Culture and Sport of Elizavetinskaya village and ensemble “Laceworks” of Culture Centre “Prikubanskiy”. The contest of songs about Ataman was participated by labor veterans’ ensemble “Twinkle” of rural Centre of Culture and Sport of Elizavetinskaya village.
This year folk craft festival “Legends of Taman” took place in historico-ethnographical exhibition complex “Ataman” for the 8th time. The festival was participated by delegations from municipalities of Krasnodar Region, the best creative collectives of the Region, members of the public, youth organizations and representatives of multi-ethnic Kuban.
