Every year the festival is held on the second day of City Day celebrations on the bank of Kuban River in Yubileynyy microdistrict. From the stage Head of Krasnodar Vladimir Evlanov and Chairwoman of City Duma Vera Galushko congratulated all people who came.
— Every year on the second day of celebrations we come here together on Kuban River bank in one of our biggest and the most landscaped microdistricts of the city — Yubileynyy to celebrate birthday of Krasnodar! Cossacks alone have founded our city in 1793, and now Krasnodar is the capital of Cossacks Region. We keep up the traditions of Cossacks-founders, care with respect to monuments inherited from the past years. This festival is also held to honour a legacy from the past of Krasnodar, — Vladimir Evlanov said.
In the evening the festival began in traditional place — on Kuban River bank near to Platanovyy Boulevard. This year the festival of Cossacks culture “Yekaterinodar of Cossacks” is held for the twelfth time and is devoted to the 95th anniversary of composer, People's Artist of the USSR Gregory Fedorovich Ponomarenko who lived and worked in Krasnodar. The festival is organized by “Center of Culture of Krasnodar City”.
During the evening songs and music of Gregory Ponomarenko were played from the stage. Music spectacle was performed by the collectives and artists of Krasnodar Philharmonics named after Gregory Fedorovich, and also by young performers from the city cultural establishments.
The concert programme was divided into episodes — each of them represented different stages of life and work of famous composer.
Viewers of the bright action was dozens thousands people — residents of Yubileynyy microdistrict and representatives of foreign delegations that arrived in Krasnodar to celebrate its 223rd anniversary.
The festive programme continued for about two hours and was rounded off with colourful fireworks.
