The reception of foreign guest who is for the first time in Krasnodar was held by Krasnodar City Duma chairwoman Vera Galushko.
— I welcome you on behalf of Krasnodar Head Vladimir Evlanov, deputy corps and all citizens of Kuban capital. Today Krasnodar actively develops international ties; our city has sister and partner cities all around the world. At that, the closest and longstanding cooperation has been established with the German sister city Karlsruhe. Our contacts continue for over 20 years and are successfully developing in the sphere of education, healthcare, construction and culture. An exchange of youth and creative delegations are conducted on a regular basis now. All this, as your visit as well, are the best proof that no sanctions can be a disqualification for good friendship and cultural intercourse. I believe that the visit in Krasnodar will be remembered by you in warm and cheerful colours, — Vera Galushko said.
The official reception was also participated by Deputy chief of Administrative Department, chief of the Department of foreign relations and protocol of Krasnodar administration Boris Staroselskiy and vice-rector of Kuban State University for morale building and social work Nikolay Redkin.
Anna Kushnarova’s visit in Krasnodar is part of Year of the German language and literature in Russia and Year of the Russian language and literature in Germany. It has begun on the 6th of June 2014 in Berlin, in the 215th anniversary of Alexander Pushkin’s birthday and will finish on the 6th of June 2015 in Moscow, in the 140th anniversary of birthday of Thomas Mann, the classic of German literature. The German authoress has Russian origins and her informal reason for visiting Krasnodar Region is an opportunity to find out more about her family history.
During conversation Anna Kushnarova thanked all persons present for inviting into the city and a warm welcome and also shared her first impressions of Krasnodar. Authoress arrived in Krasnodar on Sunday and she has already managed to visit a range of museums, see the sights and meet with students of Kuban State University.
— It is obvious that Krasnodar is growing and permanently getting better, reconditioning works are being carried out everywhere and things are humming. And surely, it is very inspiring fact that in such a difficult political environment friendly ties and cultural contacts continue to develop between our counties, — Anna Kushnarova said.
Also foreign guest retraced the history of her way to literature. Formerly she occupied herself with Egyptology, Germanistics and prehistoric archeology, was a lecturer in University of Leipzig and began cooperation with a publishing house printing books for children and youth. As time went on it became difficult to combine teaching profession and creative work, therefore it resulted in my whole devotion to the profession of a writer.
— I write about young people and for young people touching such themes as social and political problematic. This is what is interesting and important for me, — she remarked.
Anna Kushnarova is authoress of about ten books, collections of stories and poems for youth. But they have not been yet translated into Russian. In the course of the meeting participants discussed the opportunity to attract KubSU students for this work.
In conclusion, parties exchanged souvenirs and gifts.
