The visit is confined to holding of games of the FIFA World Cup with the participation of the Spanish national team in June this year in Krasnodar Region and the team arrival in Krasnodar, where Spanish sportsmen will stay and train during the tournament. On May 14 the reception of Mr. Ignacio Ibáñez was held in the regional administration. The reception was chaired by the Governor of Kuban Veniamin Kondratiev. The Mayor of Krasnodar Evgeny Pervyshov also participated in the meeting.
"Today Sochi is ready to host matches of the World Cup and reception of guests. I want to assure you that the Spanish team and fans will feel comfortable and safe on the Kuban land. The first match to take place in Sochi will be between the national teams of Spain and Portugal. The fans have already bought out all the tickets to the game. Spanish national team is a team of the world level, showing excellent football. This is the most anticipated match, I'm sure we will see a wonderful performance" said Veniamin Kondratiev.
Krasnodar Region has become the first Russian region visited by Mr. Ignacio Ibáñez within the framework of preparation for the upcoming World Cup. The Spanish delegation arrived in Krasnodar after staying Sochi, where they visited the Fisht Stadium and evaluated its infrastructure. In Krasnodar representatives of Spain plan to review the base of FC Krasnodar, where the Spanish players will be accommodated during the tournament.
The Spanish delegation also included Consul General of Spain in Moscow Itziar Taboada, advisors of the Embassy in various areas, as well as representatives of major Spanish companies — AGRICOOP in the sphere of agriculture and ELAWAN of wind industry.
"Today Spain is willing and ready to develop relations with Russia in a positive way. The upcoming World Cup will certainly contribute to this. I had two reasons to come to Krasnodar Region — our team will base in Krasnodar and Sochi will host its first game in the tournament. So my task was to visit these two cities. The second purpose of the visit is expansion of cooperation between your region and the interested parties of Spain," said Ignacio Ibáñez.
Evgeny Pervyshov emphasized that Krasnodar is ready to welcome guests. The city already has successful experience with the Spanish teams. In February of this year the capital of Kuban hosted the game between youth teams of FC Krasnodar of FC Real Madrid within the UEFA Youth League, and later the Spanish national rugby team played a key match against Russia in the European championship.
