Vladimir Evlanov held a reception of students from Krasnodar’s sister city of Karlsruhe (Germany)

Head of Krasnodar received teachers and students of Walter Eucken School from the German sister city. This year partnership relations of the school and Kuban State University marked the 10th anniversary.

— Karlsruhe and Krasnodar have long-standing partnerships. Over more than two decades the cities exchange not only official delegations. It is especially pleasant that German school-children and students visit our city, get memorable impressions of communicating with Krasnodar’s agemates, obtain new knowledge and improve the Russian language skills. From time to time our students and pupils in their turn visit Karlsruhe. Such mutual contacts display the finest example of the development of cooperation. Students feel involvement in the process of “friendship bridge” creation between two cities, between our counties, — Vladimir Evlanov said.

The reception was also participated by Deputy Chief of administrative department, Chief of the department of foreign relations and protocol of Krasnodar administration Boris Staroselskiy, Deputy Chief of the department of education Eugenia Shkuta, head of German Philology subdepartment in Romano-Germanic Philology department of KubSU Marina Olejnik, students and teachers of Kuban State University.

— I thank for well-organized and rich programme of events for us. Over just a few days we have seen sights of Krasnodar, got ourselves familiar with its industrial and cultural potential, attended the language masterclasses in Kuban State University, — head of the German delegation, teacher of Walter Eucken School Eugenia Winkler said.

She added that in 2015 Walter Eucken School has changed director. This post was given to Stefan Pauli who set the task to promote the further development of bilateral relations and expressed significant interest in that not only Russian students visiting Karlsruhe but also pupils form the school making the acquaintance of sister city of Krasnodar, learning the Russian language and Russian culture.

The German delegation visiting programme includes general acquaintance with Krasnodar, the Russian language lessons in Kuban State University, excursion to the premises of CLAAS Company and a trip to Hero City of Novorossiysk.

It is to be recalled that in 2006 Kuban State University and Walter Eucken School signed the agreement for the implementation of international education programme “European Business School”. Upon the completion the programme Russian students receive extra qualification, Certificate of European business, experience of practice at German enterprises, improve their skills in the German and English languages. Beginning from 2009 school-children of Krasnodar can take part in the programme as well. Over 10 years more than 80 students from Krasnodar have graduated Karlsruhe’s “European Business School”.
