Today Head of the capital of Kuban visited veteran of the Great Patriotic War Nadezhda Samarskaya and handed her a commemorative medal “For Merits”.
— On behalf of all citizens of Krasnodar I congratulate you on the coming remarkable date — 73rd anniversary of the city liberation from the German Nazi invaders. I know you have participated the battles for Krasnodar and have been awarded war medals. Your whole life is an example of courage, self devotion and heroism. You are special generation that today despite declining years is still serving your city, region and country, — Vladimir Evlanov said.
Nadezhda Samarskaya was also congratulated by Head of Central urban district Vyacheslav Litvinov, deputies of Krasnodar City Duma Sergey Fisyuk and Vladimir Maryanyan, Chairman of Board of the veterans Gennady Malkov.
In 1942 Nadezhda Samarskaya went to the front of the Great Patriotic War. She was directed to meteorology division of the 5th air army where she prepared weather reports for the flights of combat planes DB-3 which battled in the skies over Krasnodar. Later Nadezhda Samarskaya took part in battles for the liberation of Kharkov, Kiev, Lvov, Krakow, Belgorod, Kursk and Prague. She has been awarded medals “For War Merits”, “For the Capture of Berlin”, “For the Defence of the Caucasus” and the Order of the Patriotic War of II degree.
Over a cup of tea Vladimir Evlanov talked with Nadezhda Samarskaya and her sister-in-law Svetlana Samarskaya. He told about major event in the city life, handed flowers, medal and a memorable gift.
During the talk with honorary guests Nadezhda Samarskaya said that until she was 85 she had been engaged in public activities and participated in the work of district veteran’s organization. And now when she is 94, she is still interested in the city life. At the end of the meeting she invited Head of Krasnodar to visit her on her 95th anniversary.
