A grand passing of the parade squads, military and retro-equipment dedicated to the 73rd anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War took place on Theatre Square. The celebration was attended by the Governor of Kuban Veniamin Kondratiev, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of Krasnodar Region Yuri Burlachko and the Mayor of Krasnodar Evgeny Pervyshov.
"73 years ago our nation won a Great Victory. The war took almost 27 million lives of the Soviet people. Half a million residents of Kuban gave their lives for the Victory. No country in the world has made such a sacrifice in the name of freedom. Our rebellious people created one of the strongest countries in the world, today everyone can see the power of the Russian military equipment. We need it in order to stay strong and independent, stable and prosperous — our Kuban. This is the present and the future that we create, our fathers and grandfathers fought for it. Let us be worthy of their memory!" addressed Veniamin Kondratiev the people on the square.
More than 200 war veterans came to view the festive parade. Among them were the liberators of Krasnodar, homefront workers, prisoners of Nazi concentration camps. In total, 26 thousand Krasnodar citizens and city guests attended parade.
The Metropolitan of Yekaterinodar and Kuban Isidore, Chairwoman of the City Duma Vera Galushko, Vice-Governors of Krasnodar Region, deputies of Legislative Assembly of the region and the City Duma of Krasnodar were also present.
The passing of the units of Krasnodar garrison, cadets of military educational institutions, cadets of Presidential Academy, Kuban Cossack Army, units of MIA, Federal Security Service, Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia started at 11 o'clock.
The acting chief of Krasnodar territorial garrison Colonel Oleg Buchelnikov took the parade. Deputy Chief of Krasnodar territorial garrison Colonel Sergey Evdokimov led the parade.
Under the peal of bells the Russian Federation flag, the Victory Banner and the flag of the Krasnodar Region were brought into the square.
The commander of the parade made the rounds of the troops, welcomed them and congratulated on the holiday.
Oleg Buchelnikov read the festive order of the Minister of Defence of Russia Sergey Shoigu. They played the anthems of Russia and Kuban and made the volleys of gun salute.
The parade was opened by the Great Patriotic War veterans, who went to the Theatre Square by vehicles of the Second World War. Then 40 parade units and 1 cavalry group marched in review. All the units consisted of about 2.5 thousand people: soldiers of military units of the Krasnodar garrison, veterans of combat operations and local conflicts, the cadets of the Krasnodar higher military aviation school, the Cossacks of the Kuban Cossack army, students of Cossack cadet corps and cadets of Presidential Academy, honor guard of Kuban Cossack army, Krasnodar University of the Russian interior Ministry, special operations brigade. For the first time the parade was participated by the troops of anti-aircraft missile brigade.
The festive march was completed with a passing of mechanized column of the Krasnodar territorial garrison. Mechanized column included 20 pieces of military equipment: guided missile system Tochka-U and Iskander-TZM, armored reconnaissance vehicles Tiger and Typhoon, anti-aircraft installations ZU-23-2, BTR-80 and 9 vintage cars.
