The ceremony was held in different places of the city on January 18 and 19. In the regional center, 8 places were arranged for baptismal ablutions. On the eve of the Epiphany and on Epiphany Day, the rite of the Great Blessing of the Waters was performed in all the churches of the Yekaterinodar diocese, at water bodies, near the fonts.
Medical professionals, rescuers and police were on duty during the ceremony. On January 18 and 19, more than 80 rescuers, 8 emergency vehicles, 6 lifeboat cutters were constantly present at the places where baptismal ablutions were held in Krasnodar.
Tents for changing clothes were set up near the fonts, heating and meals posts with blow heaters were also organized nearby. A field kitchen worked at the Church of the Nativity of Christ in the Yubileiny microdistrict.
Also, on the eve the divers checked the bottom of the Kuban River.
Festive services were held in all 49 Orthodox churches of the regional center. The Baptism of Christ or Holy Epiphany is one of the main Christian holidays, it is devoted to the baptism of Jesus Christ by John the Baptist in the Jordan River.
