Representatives of Chinese delegation headed by Mayor of People’s government of Harbin Mr. Song Xibin arrived in Krasnodar. On the first day of the visit Vladimir Evlanov aquainted foreign guests with city’s places of interest.
— Sister city relations between Harbin and Krasnodar have been developing for about 9 years. Over the years both cities have opened warm friendly relations, hold dozens joint arrangements and established constant exchange of delegations. Surely we are happy again to receive guests from Harbin, — Vladimir Evlanov said.
Harbin delegation arrived in Krasnodar yesterday. The aim of the visit is widening of partnership ties of sister cities, the development of bilateral cooperation in the area of education, economy, culture and agriculture.
The framework of three-day visit of Chinese delegation in Krasnodar Region includes official meetings in administrations of Krasnodar Region and Krasnodar, attending Kuban State Agrarian University and German agricultural machinery plant “CLAAS”, a trip to Sochi and getting to know Olympic facilities.
The visit started with an excursion around Krasnodar. Vladimir Evlanov aquainted Mr. Song Xibin and other members of the delegation with sights of historic part of the city. Guests were also accompanied by Chief of Administrative Department of Krasnodar administration Viktor Kudinov and Deputy Chief of Administrative Department, Chief of the Department of foreign relations and protocol of Krasnodar administration Boris Staroselskiy.
The excursion route extended from Theatre Square to Catherine’s garden square and further on the main street of Krasnodar. Vladimir Evlanov directed the guests’ attention to Catherine the Great monument, Military Cathedral of the Faithful Saint Prince Alexander Nevsky on Postovaya Street, showed some fountain complexes which have decorated the central part of the city in recent years. Among them — plane light-music fountain in front of the city administration building, cascade fountain in front of cinema “Avrora” situated at the end of boulevard on Krasnaya Street, fountain in People’s Friendship garden square.
Mr. Song Xibin highlighted a great number of green plantings in the center of Krasnodar and well-thought-out organization of green zones — boulevards and garden squares.
It is to be recalled that the first contacts between Krasnodar and Harbin were set in 2006. In July 2008 in Harbin parties signed an agreement on establishing sister city relations.
Interestingly, Cossacks from Kuban were among founders of Harbin. Both cities were founded and were developing under the influence of the proximity of rivers.
