Vladimir Evlanov: “People’s diplomacy” will help in overcoming political tension between Russia and Germany

At the German-Russian Forum “German-Russian municipal partnership — from Karlsruhe 2015 to Krasnodar 2017” which is held in Moscow Vladimir Evlanov spoke of sister cities cooperation experience.

— Sister cities relations of Krasnodar and Karlsruhe at all levels can be described as exemplary. The relations are the best illustration of sister cities contacts in Russia and Germany as well. Primarily, this is the merit of our peoples, ordinary citizens by the initiative of whom initial contacts between the cities were established almost 25 years ago and over all these years the relations have been successfully developed, — Vladimir Evlanov said at the Forum.

Head of Krasnodar has also emphasized that the cooperation of two cities is developing in different spheres and branches, including economic area that is very importance in current difficult economic situation.  

— I’m sure that without the assistance of Krasnodar municipality the German plant CLAAS could not be so successful in work and development in our city. In interaction with our German partners we tried to develop not only the humanitarian contacts but also the sphere of business. Over the years we have taken part in exhibition of consumer goods “Offerta” in Germany. Now because of sanctions these contacts are phased out and this state of affairs impedes investment development. People in our countries are eagerly awaiting the lifting or reduction of the sanctions, — Vladimir Evlanov stated.

For his part, First Vice-Burgomaster of Karlsruhe Wolfram Jäger underlined that apart from economics, Krasnodar, Karlsruhe and Nancy (Karlsruhe’s sister city) now are developing “the triple alliance” and preparing an exhibition of photo works of the youth from three countries.

— We all understand that the cooperation between cities is a foundation to keep friendship between Russia and Germany, foundation of peaceful Europe, — Wolfram Jäger said.

As it has been already reported, today Moscow hosts the German-Russian Forum “German-Russian municipal partnership — from Karlsruhe 2015 to Krasnodar 2017” organized by the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation and the German-Russian Forum.
