Festive Divine Liturgy in St. Catherine Cathedral was led by Metropolitan of Yekaterinodar and Kuban Isidore. Side by side with church-goers Kuban Governor Veniamin Kondratiev and Krasnodar Head Evgeny Pervyshov were present at all-night vigil.
Residents of the capital of Kuban came to the Cathedral at night to greet the coming Christmas Holiday together. In St. Catherine Cathedral the festive liturgy lasted nearly 4 hours. During the service Christmas message of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill was delivered:
— We enter 2017. Now we are hundred years away from the events that changed the life of Russia dramatically… We thank God for the occurrence of a miracle — the revival of faith and piety among our people, recovery of wracked shrines, construction of new temples and monasteries. This was a sign of profound changes in hearts of people.
Upon completion of the service Metropolitan of Yekaterinodar and Kuban Isidore addressed people:
I heartily congratulate you on this great Christmas Holiday. I sincerely wish you happiness, peace and success in your good deeds. Let the holiday be a welcome guest in every house.
On the last night divine services were held in all 38 orthodox churches and temples of Krasnodar.
Christmas is one of the main Christian feasts celebrated in honor of Jesus Christ’s birth. According to a church calendar after Christmas Holiday there is Christmastide which lasts for 12 days until the Eve of Theophany, 18 January.
