One of the most solemn and numerous night liturgies took place in St. Catherine Cathedral — cathedral temple of Yekaterinodar‘s eparchy. Divine Liturgy was led by metropolitan of Yekaterinodar and Kuban Isidore. Side by side with church-goers Kuban Governor Veniamin Kondratiev and Krasnodar Head Vladimir Evlanov were present at all-night vigil.

Believers prayed, lit candles and approached to have a look at improvised Bethlehem cave. Thousands citizens and guests of the capital of Kuban, representatives of authorities, Cossacks, pupils of Orthodox schools and students came to one of the biggest temples of Russia to share the joy of holiday. The liturgy lasted for over two and half hours.
The Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill’s message was delivered during Divine Liturgy. At the end of the service all people who have kept 40 days Christmas fast made a confession and received the sacraments.
Totally on the night of 6 and 7 January Christmas masses took place in almost 50 temples, cathedrals and chapels of Krasnodar.
Christmas is one of the main Christian feasts. In the hierarchy of the Russian Orthodox Church it takes the second place after the Easter. According to the church calendar Christmastide goes next to Christmas and it lasts for 12 days until the Eve of Theophany. During this time Orthodox parishes of Krasnodar host festive ceremonies.
