Vladimir Evlanov: Over the last 10 years Krasnodar has become the leader in Southern Federal District

During today’s press-conference responding the questions of journalists Vladimir Evlanov spoke about the success and achievements of his 10-years governance and about started in this year work on single architectural look for Krasnodar streets.

— The city has greatly changed over the last 10 years. It relates to image of the city which has become more modern, the city economy and urban infrastructure development.  For these years Krasnodar has become the leader in many aspects in Southern Federal District. Kuban capital has been repeatedly recognized by authoritative economic publications and analysts as the most convenient city for life and business dealing, — Mayor said.

Particularly Vladimir Evlanov pinpointed multiple increase of the local budget own revenues — from 4,5 bln to 13,5 bln roubles since 2004. This became possible thanks to high rates of growth of large, medium and especially small-sized businesses, attraction of investments including from abroad and due to expanding the tax base.

Another achievement of Krasnodar is one of the lowest unemployment level — merely 0,2%; high rates of housing construction (at least 1 mln square meters are commissioned per year) and low price for 1 square meter in comparison with the other cities of Southern Federal District. Kuban capital ranks among leaders across the whole country according to the volume of commissioned housing.

There are also obvious external changes. Vladimir Evlanov remarked that the city authorities carried out the complex development of many urban territories. In particular, boulevard along Krasnaya Street with its last phase opened in this year has been completely reconstructed, main roads, parks, garden squares and other green areas have changed to the better.  

— The funds of municipal budget were allocated for these purposes due to planned expenditures for the maintenance and development of urban territories. But it is not sufficient to cover the whole field of operations. We also attract the funds from regional budget within the framework of current programs. For example, the construction of new pavements and border stones, planting of greenery and other works were financed from the budget of Krasnodar Region, — Vladimir Evlanov said.

Apart from that, a special fund has been established whereinto all interested people can transfer their money for fulfilling works on single architectural look creation. Krasnodar Head informed that within six months nearly 300 mln roubles were transferred into the fund.

Finally, a range of works are sponsored by large businesses. Particularly, for the first time in many years 16 underground crosswalks have been capitally repaired by the resources of the leading construction companies. Total volume of works on all these objects amounted to about 320 mln roubles.

— We have a fair amount of sources of financing. Of course, substantial financial aid is rendered by representatives of business community and is a very welcome step for their part.  

At that Vladimir Evlanov added that the work will be continued in the next year.

Altogether during the press-conference Vladimir Evlanov answered some dozens of questions from mass media representatives. He shared the efforts of British Higher School of Art and Design (Moscow) to create the brand of Krasnodar, information about pending capital repair of Golovatogo and Novo-Kuznechnaya Streets which are to become the relief roads for Severnaya Street, about transferring of abandoned construction sites situated at Krasnodar territory into the ownership of municipality in a legal procedure.
