Kuban capital occupies the sixth place in the integral rating of one hundred biggest cities of the country (Top-100) as of 2013 composed by Urbanica Spatial Planning Institute (St. Petersburg) together with Union of Architects of Russia.
— Krasnodar is being recurrently mentioned in various ratings of authoritative economic magazines and research institutes. And, as a rule, the city stably takes places in top-5 or very near to it. Each estimate is of great importance for us because it provides an independent conclusion on strengths and weaknesses of the city and whether living and doing business in Krasnodar is comfortable. This helps us to understand whether we are moving in the right direction and on what we should focus our efforts in the following. Integral rating of one hundred biggest cities of the country (Top-100) as of 2013 is posted on the official website of Urbanica. Krasnodar takes the sixth place scoring 62,6 points. The rating top-5 includes Surgut (1 place – 74,6 points), Nizhnevartovsk (69,5), Tyumen (69,2), Sochi (67) and Yekaterinburg (66,9).
The cities-participants were estimated on a 100-point scale by two directions – “Quality of urban environment” and “Quality of life”. One defined a set of criteria in each direction and cites were rated in accordance with these sets. Overall rating was composed on the basis of carried out calculations.
In particular, such criteria as housing, availability of up-to-date consumption formats, traffic congestion, crime rate, the city illumination, external transport accessibility, urban furnishings, ecological situation, utility’s costs, purchasing power of population, opportunities of acquiring own living space and others were regarded.
When fulfilling researches the rating authors reviewed official statistical data including information from Federal State Statistics Service, big consulting and real estate agencies (indicators of housing and up-to-date consumption formats), research institutions (climatic and ecological conditions).
Urbanica Spatial Planning Institute was founded in 2009. It is specialized on formulation of documents of long-term socioeconomic and urban planning in spheres of municipal/state administration and development.
