The first trolleybus was engaged in Krasnodar 65 years ago

In the end of July it is the 65th anniversary of the date of start of the first trolleybus in the capital of Kuban.  On the occasion of jubilee Krasnodar tram and trolleybus directorate (KTTD) launched 4 festively painted trolleybuses.

— This is done to acquaint residents and guests of the city with the history of the development of municipal trolleybuses. On transport vehicles there are photographs displaying the changes in appearance of this public transport mode with the course of time. Inside the vehicles there are audio tours from which passengers are able to learn more about unknown facts of urban electric transport. Jubilee vehicles will run in the course of the year, — a specialist of KTTD commented.

It was also noted that three of the four jubilee trolleybuses are painted the same as the first trolleybus of Krasnodar — models MTB-82. The fourth trolleybus is a new one so it was decided not to repaint it.

It is to be recalled that first trolleybuses started functioning in Krasnodar on July 28, 1950. The first trolleybus line connected “The City Garden” (in those times — the Park of culture and recreation of Gorky) and “Dinamo” stadium. The line ran along Krasnaya Street until Odesskaya Street. The next quarter between Odesskaya and Gavrilova streets there was Northern tram depot where for the first ten years trolleybuses stood too until opening of fully-featured trolleybus depot along Dzerzhinskogo Street in 1960.

As early as 1951 the second trolleybus line was opened — it was a route to Neftyanikov townlet (that was the name of presentday district limited by the streets Dzerzhinskogo, Gavrilova, Shosse Neftyanikov). Later municipal trolleybuses went to a railroad station, along Severnaya Street, Shaumyana Street (now — Rashpilevskaya St.) etc.
