Traditionally “Yekaterinodar Maidan” festival was held in the second day of City Day celebrations in Yubileinyy microdistrict on Kuban River bank. The festival guests were congratulated by Krasnodar Head Vladimir Evlanov and Chairwoman of City Duma Vera Galushko from the scene.
— Today we open the festival which marks its tenth anniversary. It is remarkable that there is an established tradition to hold the festival on City Day — every year thousands citizens of this big and dynamically developing residential area came here to watch bright and breathtaking action. Year by year the festival represents bright colors, distinctive voices, freedom and Cossacks boldness. Being capital of Cossacks region Krasnodar demonstrates it’s potential. I’m sure that the festival will stick in memory, you’ll receive a great quantity of bright impressions, — Vladimir Evlanov said.
Speaking before spectators and the festival participants Krasnodar Head also remarked that stand of Cossacks is strengthening year by year. Kuban has no other social force that solves so many questions — protection of public order, patriotic upbringing of children and youth, disaster clean-up operations.
X city festival of Cossacks culture “Yekaterinodar Maidan” started in the late afternoon. Cossacks kurens were installed near to the stage; they demonstrated scenes of Cossacks everyday life, patterns of their family life. Game program featuring traditional Cossacks ceremonies, games and amusements with participation of children’s Cossacks collective of the city was presented to the younger generation of Krasnodar.
The festival concert program was presented by professional and amateur creative collectives of Krasnodar, Krasnodar Region and Republic of Adygeya. Various songs, dances, and theatricalized compositions acquainted guests of the festival with history and traditions of Kuban Cossacks.
During performance Vera Galushko also addressed the audience:
— Our favourite Krasnodar has Cossacks roots. Traditions, continuity of generations are retained thank to such festivals, collectives that bring the beauty and distinctiveness of Cossacks culture to the masses.
Festive program continued for about two hours. Musical performance was presented by Krasnodar Philharmonics State concert ensemble of dance and song “Kuban Cossacks Volnitsa”, ensemble of folk’s dance “Kalyna” of Krasnodar State Culture and Arts University, ensemble of folk’s song from Maikop, ensemble of dance “Stanitsa”, dance ensemble “Tanok” from Kalininskaya village and other collectives.
In conclusion, composition “My Kuban” was performed by dance ensembles “Stanitsa”, “Tanok” and students of Krasnodar State Culture and Arts University.
Performance was ended with festive fireworks.
