Today during the tenth session of Krasnodar City Duma deputies approved the awarding list of the Great Patriotic War participants who took part in liberation of Kuban capital from Hitler’s invaders and in the defense of Pashkovsky ferry crossing.
— To award veterans-liberators the procedure of assignment of our major city titles — the Medal for Merits and Honourable citizen of Krasnodar title has been changed. This is just a small part of our acknowledgement of immortal feats and heroic lives of those who have defended and liberated our city, — Vladimir Evlanov said.
It is to be recalled that the decision to encourage veterans-liberators in a particular way was taken on the initiative of municipal authorities. 33 frontline soldiers who have liberated the city from the enemy’s hands now live in Krasnodar. On the petition of city’s Council of veterans 6 frontline soldiers will be awarded a title of Honourable citizen of Krasnodar and 27 veterans will receive the Medals for Merit.
At the session deputies have also made amendments to Regulations on the awarding commemorative Medal for Merit and Honourable citizen of Krasnodar title.
It is planned that the ceremony will occur in a festive atmosphere in Military glory exhibition hall in the Park of victory. Supposedly, the event will be held on February 12 — the 73rd anniversary of liberation of Krasnodar from the German Nazi occupants. Those former soldiers who for health reasons are not able to attend the ceremony, they will be awarded at home.
- We decided to withdraw from the tradition to congratulate residents on the awarding a title Honourable citizen of Krasnodar and Medal for Merits during the celebration of City Day in the end of September. This year the ceremony will take place much earlier — during the month of the mass-defensive and military-patriotic work which has already started, — Vladimir Evlanov said.
