In the morning at Catherine garden square Vladimir Evlanov together with numerous citizens and guests of Kuban capital gave start to festive events dedicated to 221st anniversary of the city foundation.
— When opening our holiday I want to say that Krasnodar has a bright future. We build houses, improve infrastructure, beautify and make our favourite city green. On this festive day I want to thank all Krasnodar citizens who have made their contribution into the city development and welfare; express my appreciation to our respected veterans and front-line soldiers of Great Patriotic War for whom we are trying to do everything possible. Also I wish to thank our young people who continue the glorious traditions, established by fathers and grandfathers. I congratulate everybody on City Day, wish happiness, success, all the best as well as the following well-being and the prosperity for our favourite Yekaterinodar-Krasnodar, — Vladimir Evlanov said.
Traditionally, the opening of festivities was participated by guests from all over Russia, foreign delegations from sister cities Karlsruhe, Burgas, Harbin, Sukhumi, delegation from Yerevan and Crimea which arrived in Krasnodar to celebrate its 221st birthday.
Honourable guests were met with song and dance presented by performers of the State Symphony Orchestra of Ponomarenko Krasnodar Philharmonics which has won “Battle of choirs” on “Russia” channel.
There was a big festive concert of Krasnodar creative collectives near to Catherine the Great monument.
As usual, celebrations of Krasnodar City Day continue for two days. Concerts and folk festivals will take place all around the city. There will be flower, honey and wine festivals, opening of festive objects, Theatre Square gala concert, X city festival of Cossacks culture “Yekaterinodar Maidan” and a big youth festival.
