Evgeny Pervyshov: Krasnodar is the first city in Russia to use bank cards for the payment in public transport

In municipal buses and trolleybuses in Krasnodar it is possible to pay for travel by means of bank cards with contactless technology. A project of Krasnodar administration and Sberbank is officially presented in the capital of Kuban.

"An introducing contactless payment system is another step towards improving the quality of passenger service in urban public transport. It will also increase the collection of fare and improve the financial standing of the main urban carrier — Krasnodar Tram and Trolleybus Directorate. The project has been worked over on pilot routes and proved to be a perspective and an efficient one, it resulted in growing of the fare collection by 20%," said Evgeny Pervyshov.

Mayor of Krasnodar added that in Krasnodar the proportion of fares made by residents with the use of cards increases each year. Only the trade and service organizations have more than 16.5 thousand non-cash payment terminals and their number increases.

The project was described by the Head of Sberbank Krasnodar branch Andrey Oreshko, the Head of Directorate of "Transport and social cards" of the Golden Crown payments system Aleksander Grishin and CEO of Electronic ticket of Kuban LLC Andrey Grigorenko.

The presentation was held on the "2E" bus route. The Mayor of Krasnodar first checked the system's work by paying with his bank card. Also Andrey Oreshko paid with Sberbank card.

During the presentation, participants described the system's features and perspectives of its introduction. The project focuses on increasing the efficiency of the passenger service, so it assigns top priority to the contactless payments.

In such a way, you can pay for the fare with international bank cards that support contactless payment as well as with any mobile devices: smart-phones, smart-watches - with mobile banks systems, as well as Samsung Pay, Android Pay and Apple Pay.  According to the project developers, for the bank cards of previous generation (including so-called "chip cards") that do not support contactless payments, the solution would be binding these cards to mobile payment systems.
