They will be placed at the memorial "For the Sake of Life on Earth" (corner of Khakurate and Krasnaya Streets), which is dedicated to students, teachers and employees of Kuban State Technological University, who died during the Great Patriotic War. The repair works on the memorial has been completed in the lead-up to the 75th anniversary of the Victory. All elements of sculptural composition were restored. The Mayor of the city Evgeny Pervyshov visited the monument during the morning inspection. Together with acting rector Mikhail Baryshev and the KubSTU President Vladimir Lobanov, they discussed the possibility of adding busts of Heroes of the Soviet Union - teachers and graduates of the university, including members of the legendary partisan detachment of Peter Ignatov.
"This monument is one of the most famous in the city. On significant historic dates of the Great Patriotic War, veterans, pupils of nearby schools, students and teachers of the University lay flowers here. This monument has a special history. It is dedicated to employees of the University who fought in the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. Moreover, much of this is the history of the best — and most effective partisan detachment in Kuban region, which caused huge damage to the enemy during the occupation. This is an interesting idea that will be worthily implemented. In general, we need to consider the possibility of the creation of a museum complex here," said Evgeny Pervyshov.
The Mayor of Krasnodar also encharged with a task to replace the banner installed behind the memorial. In the future, specialists will prepare a project of a decorative stone wall on the site of the banner and fence that will decorate the memorial complex.
According to Mikhail Baryshev, it is planned to install six additional busts — three teachers and three students of the University, who were awarded the title of Heroes of the Soviet Union for their feats in the fronts of the Great Patriotic War.
The memorial itself has been repaired in preparation for the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. At the memorial, the damaged steps were replaced; concrete slabs were cleared; the damaged sculpture of the girl was restored; the entire sculpture composition was painted and the pedestal facing was put in order.
The monument to students, teachers and employees of the University who died in the fronts of the Great Patriotic War was opened on May 31, 1986. The well-established name is "For the Sake of Life on Earth". During the opening ceremony, a capsule with an address to the students of 2045 was placed into the pedestal.
