Annual parade of Kuban Cossack Army historical divisions devoted to the 23rd anniversary of repressed peoples rehabilitation enactment took place at Theatre Square today. Dozens of thousands of citizens and city’s guests came to have a look at large-scale performance. Cossacks were greeted by Kuban Governor Alexander Tkachev. Head of Krasnodar Vladimir Evlanov also was present on the platform.
— Compatriots! Brothers Cossacks! We pay tribute to the memory of our grandfathers and great grandfathers. Our ancestors defended southern borders of Russia, battled in the Great Patriotic War and they deserved to be honoured as heroes. The history of Kuban Cossacks is a history of unbroken spirit. Until quite recently few people believed that Cossacks could have a worthy employment nowadays and that every Kuban Cossack would serve our country. But now we can see that Kuban Cossack Army is an effective power which helps Russia! — Alexander Tkachev said.
Also Kuban Governor thanked Cossacks for participation in maintenance of public order in the course of Crimea referendum and Winter Olympic Games in Sochi. Totally 1500 Kuban Cossacks were involved in law enforcement at Olympic facilities and sports venues.
Today at 10 a.m. the ceremonial moleben of Kuban Cossack Army historical divisions Cossacks traditionally took place on the square in front of Alexander Nevsky Military Cathedral. Then Cossacks went up the Krasnaya Street for forming-up at Theatre Square where parade started at noon. Works on installation of the biggest in region 42 m high flagpole has been already completed by now. A flag of Kuban has been raised over Theatre Square in this remarkable date for the first time ever.
Banner and regalia of Kuban Cossack Army were brought on the square. Military ataman, Cossack General, Kuban Vice-Governor Nikolay Doluda greeted parade squads of KCA historical divisions and military students of Cossacks cadet corps.
Items of cultural value and ancestors’ regalia have been reconstructed and returned during the period of Kuban Cossacks revival. This has to be hold scared by everyone who lives in Kuban, — Nikolay Doluda said.
Drummer platoon of Novorossiysk Cossacks cadet corps, foot and horse mobile groups of KCA honor guard opened the parade. Military students of Cossacks cadet corps, performers of Kuban Cossack Choir, parade squads of army historical divisions went next. Every squad numbers 49 people.
Pupils of Cossacks classes also paraded at the square.
The parade was run by assistant of Military Ataman, Cossacks Colonel Vasily Ponomarenko and inspected by Nikolay Doluda.
In the parade Krasnodar was represented by nearly 200 Cossacks of Yekaterinodar district Cossack society.
As in previous year Cossacks parade gathered in Krasnodar several dozens of thousands of people. Also it was participated by other Cossacks armies of Russia, including armies from Republic of Adygeya, Republic of Crimea and Heads of Krasnodar Region municipalities.
