First stand of virtual library is situated near to KubSTU campus building at Krasnaya Street. Through 3G networks having used QR-scanning one can download a book to one’s smart phone or tablet PC in one touch. Such a present to the city was made on the threshold of 221st birthday of Krasnodar by leading telecommunications operator in Russia and CIS – OJSC MTS. The project is being implemented with the assistance of city administration.
— Today Krasnodar is actively developing and it’s important for us up-to-date technologies to come in regional center and find relevant application in different spheres of the city life. The more especially in such projects as this one that is oriented to education. I’m convinced that virtual library will arouse much interest among Krasnodar citizens, particularly young people. Thus it will be more interesting and easier for them to join in Russian classic literature, — Vladimir Evlanov said.
Today Vladimir Evlanov attended the place at Krasnaya Street where the first in city stand of mobile library has been installed. Titles of books with QR-codes are presented circle wise at the stand. In such a way one can choose any available book of interest. Chief of the department of information and communication technologies Georgy Antoniadi also took a look at innovation.
Director of MTS in South of Russia Sergey Laskavyy explained Krasnodar Head the principles of mobile library functioning. Overall more than 300 works of the Russian classics are provided in free-of-charge use for citizens and guests of the city. Everyone who has mobile device can make avail of this mobile library. For that end one need point the camera of one’s smart phone or tablet PC at unique QR-code of virtual book and automatically download existing file in electronic format.
— In recent years Kuban capital has improved its look, become more comfortable place of residence. Our company is also developing and modernizing its infrastructure for a maximum comfort of citizens. Our project demonstrates new opportunities currently available for users of modern mobile devices, — Sergey Laskavyy said.
Additionally they discussed new places where such stands can appear within the shortest time. Particularly, mobile libraries are supposed to be installed at Theatre Square, near to Book Center etc.
MTS Company is actively developing mobile libraries in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. Today virtual stands are functioning in 30 Russian cities in more than 20 regions including Rostov-On-Don, Stavropol, Vladivostok, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Bryansk, Kaluga, regions of Volgograd, Kirov, Kurgan, Saratov, Chelyabinsk, Bashkortostan Republic and other locations.
