Thematic ground was arranged in the city park “Sunny Island” to accept the guests who wanted to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of war time. The action was coincided with the 75th anniversary of guerilla movement initiation in years of the Great Patriotic War.
— We want to unveil myths about guerillas which downplay their merits and feats, to recreate the real picture of war time and show everything in such a way as it was in reality. We have named the action — “Guerilla Tale” in honor of a play with the same title staged by former Belarus guerilla in the Puppet Theatre in Minsk, — head of historic fencing club “Svyatoslav” Sergey Nikonov said.
The event’s guests could see some thematic sections. One of them focused on special features of war weapons both of the Soviet and German troops. They were also told the history of creation pistols, submachine guns and sniper rifles. All the exhibits are the direct participants of combat actions. Everyone who wanted could make a photo with it or hold in hands for closer inspection.
Members of historic fencing club “Svyatoslav” delivered master classes and showed the guests how it is correct to use specific types of weapons and battle shovels.
At the last training station there was a field hospital where members of “Svyatoslav” club acted as workers of a medical unit. They told the story how medical workers helped and saved soldiers in the years of war, how hospitalizations were done and under what conditions doctors worked.
Traditionally the Day of guerillas and underground fighters is marked on June 29. In Russia this holiday was established in 2010. This very day in 1941the Soviet authorities issued the Directive which called people to organize raiding groups, guerilla and underground fighting forces.
