Parade of historic divisions of Kuban Cossack Army dedicated to the 24th anniversary of signing of the law on rehabilitation of the repressed peoples occurred in Krasnodar. On Theatre Square Cossacks were greeted by acting Governor of Kuban Veniamin Kondratiev. On a stand there was also Head of Krasnodar Vladimir Evlanov.
— Rehabilitation of Cossacks became the acknowledgement of a mistake of history. First of all it is the acknowledgement of Cossacks’ right for their distinctive culture and history, ideology, the possibility to live and raise children in accordance with their traditions and customs of ancestors. And the main thing is the recovering of Cossacks’ right to serve for Russia and to be in the government's employ. Realization of this strategy is the most important mission assigned by the President of the state — to bring the state service of Kuban Cossacks to a principally new level. Primarily, this entails the activity of Cossacks brigades. And I, as the Governor of the region, will follow the course and support Kuban Cossacks, — Veniamin Kondratiev addressed the gathered audience.
Traditionally the event started on 10 a.m. on the square in front of Military Cathedral of Alexander Nevsky where solemn prayer took place. Then Cossacks, cadets and pupils of Cossack classes of Kuban marched in review along Krasnaya Street from Cathedral to Theatre Square where at noon the parade started.
Banner and regalia of Kuban Cossack Army were brought on the square. The parade squads were greeted by military ataman, Cossack General Nikolay Doluda.
After that, with drums beating right from the square Cossacks of honor guard together with the Great Patriotic War veterans went to the Eternal light situated on Heroes’ Square in order to lay memorial wreaths.
Drummers’ platoon, foot and horse mobile groups of Kuban Cossack Army honor guard opened the parade. Parade squads of army historic divisions, military students of Cossacks cadet corps, performers of Kuban Cossack Choir went next.
Pupils of Cossacks classes also paraded at the square.
The parade was participated by nearly six thousand Cossacks, almost two thousands cadets and pupils of Cossacks classes. About 15 thousand residents and guests of the city came to view the event.
The parade of historic divisions of Kuban Cossack Army occurs in Krasnodar every year and is coincided with the anniversary of the signing of law of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic of 26 April 1991 “On Rehabilitation of the Repressed Peoples” and Day of Kuban Cossacks rehabilitation.
