Krasnodar took the first place in Top-100 rating of the largest cities in Russia

On results of carried out integrated rating of the largest hundred cities of Russia (Top-100) St. Petersburg institute of spatial planning «Urbanica» together with the Russian Union of Architects declared Kuban capital to be the best city of the country in accordance with living standards in 2012.

Goal of this rating is to identify the most favourable city in Russia in terms of living costs and quality ratio. This scientific research allows putting value on a city as a peculiar kind of a «product» or «service» that is consumed by its every citizen. Besides of that, the rating aids comparatively to estimate the performance of municipal authorities in the matter of improvement of life conditions in the city, — one in the department of economic development, investments and external affairs of Krasnodar administration commented.

This independent benchmark survey has been carried out in one hundred largest cities of Russia. There are two indicator groups — quality of urban environment development and living costs in the city. Majority factors in the rating are calculated and based on nearly 25 statistical indicators.

According to every indicator all cities were rated relative to each other; and an overall rating was made on the basis of these calculations. Ranking results of cities by each of 14 rating indicators are posted on open access. Such an approach allows specifically identifying «leading spheres» and ‘’failing spheres» for every city-participator of this rating.

«Urbanica» carries out its rating for three years in succession. At year-end 2011 Krasnodar took the third place in the rating.
