Innovations in the work of Kuban capital public transport in 2015 were discussed by Vladimir Evlanov and the KTTD director Aleksey Knyazev during the examination of a new batch of buses delivered into vehicle fleet of Krasnodar Tram and Trolleybus Directorate.
— Public transport of Krasnodar has to be in step with the times, become more comfortable and preferable means of transport for citizens. Along with continuing renovation of a rolling stock today we should actively use high technologies which could facilitate using of public transport and create extra comfort for passengers, — Vladimir Evlanov said.
Today Krasnodar Head checked the readiness of first twenty buses in trolleybus depot №2 which have already passed the registration procedure and will start working at urban and suburban routes on the next week.
The KTTD director Aleksey Knyazev told the city Mayor about technical characteristics of new transport vehicles. The conversation was also participated by acting Chief of the department of transport of Krasnodar Region administration Alexander Yazlovetskiy, Deputy Head of Krasnodar Victor Bondar and Chief of municipal department of transport Evgeny Kalioropulo.
Vladimir Evlanov examined new buses in-and-out. He marked high comfort, roomy passenger compartment and a low floor. As Aleksey Knyazev explained, all buses are fitted with air-conditioning system for passenger compartment, security cameras, ramps, radio informers and displays. Besides that, as well as already working public transport of Krasnodar, new buses are connected to Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS) which helps accurately to track their position on route at any time.
One more innovation is an automated fare collection system fitted in each of new buses. Special electronic devices (validators) for collection of fares from plastic cards are attached to grab-handles. So the presence of a conductor will not be necessary.
Aleksey Knyazev provided Vladimir Evlanov more details about work of the system. Passenger counting sensors will be used to control the passenger flow. Validators fix the quantity of payments made and sensors count how many people came in the passenger compartment. All the information is transmitted to a control panel of a driver who looks after the number of came in passengers and the number of made payments.
The introduction of automated fare collection system has impacted the bus configuration. The buses have no back doors. One can enter the bus only through the front or middle door. Vladimir Evlanov added that until citizens will get used to the system, bus drivers need to explain people the point.
New buses will be comfortable not only for passengers but drivers too. Vladimir Evlanov personally took the driver’s seat and had a look at the control panel. Driver's compartment is also camera secured and provided with air-conditioning system.
Vladimir Evlanov stated that the city has a task to improve transport service in the biggest urban areas, including Yubileinyy, Komsomolskiy and Gidrostroiteley microdistricts and suburban settlements, and a task to connect them with the city central part. New buses will be particularly used for that end.
Krasnodar Head encharged the KTTD managerial staff with a task to improve the overhaul base to maintain new vehicles in a proper way.
