Traditionally, August 22 — on the Russian Federation Flag Day — the Theatre square of the Kuban capital held a rally and a ceremony of raising the flag on the flagpole. The event was attended by more than 6,5 thousand people. The Chairwoman of Krasnodar City Duma Vera Galushko congratulated people on this holiday.
"Today's holiday has joined a big multinational family of Russia. The cities and villages developed under our flag, our country proved to the world the power and strength of the Russian sport. The tricolour is a symbol of victory and faith in our great country, a symbol of honour and valour. It is the common thread between our past and present. Our country unites many nationalities, we all share the love for the Motherland, desire to make it more powerful, more successful, to go together to new achievements," said Vera Galushko.
The rally was attended by representatives of administrations of Krasnodar Region and Krasnodar City, deputies of the municipal Duma, representatives of regional and municipal public organizations, political parties, Krasnodar regional peoples patriotic organization "For Faith, Kuban and Fatherland!", Krasnodar local branch of All-Russian public organization “Young Guard of United Russia”, residents and guests of the city, representatives of mass media and Krasnodar military garrison, the Cossacks.
The Cossacks of honour guard of the Kuban Cossack army brought the cloth of the Russian tricolour with a size of 10×15 meters in the Theatre square. Then the flag was hoisted on the flagpole to the sounds of the anthem of Russia.
