Veterans, representatives of regional and municipal authorities, public organizations, youth came together to Eternal light at Heroes’ Memory square on Day of memory and grief.
Prompt at nine o’clock a requiem concert devoted to the beginning of the most murderous war in history of mankind started at Heroes’ Memory square. At 9:30 all-Kuban one-minute silence was kept in Krasnodar as well as throughout the whole Region. This very moment Kuban capital and other Kuban settlements went silent for 60 seconds; cars stopped movement and a bell-ringing sounded in all temples of Krasnodar as a symbol of memory and grief.
The event participants – battle-front veterans and honorable guests, representatives of youth organizations, cadets of military academies and military servicemen of Krasnodar garrison laid flowers and wreaths to Eternal light as a symbol of people’s memory of those who battled in fronts of the Great Patriotic War, were in the war in partisan units, labored in home front, were captured and in death camps.
Vladimir Svezhenets, Peter Kurdyuk, Vladimir Evlanov, Vera Galushko laid flowers to the grave of Soviet Union Heroes Evgeny and Gennady Ignatov at All Saint’s cemetery. Then salvoes sounded in the air and military academies cadets together with Cossacks units marched in review by memorial of a soldier liberator.
The day before, on June 21 at 22:00 an action “Candle of Memory: June 22” took place at Heroes’ Memory square. The action was organized by Krasnodar local branch of “United Russia” party. Chairwoman of Krasnodar City Duma, deputy chief of Krasnodar local branch of the party Vera Galushko, deputies of Krasnodar City Duma, veterans and youth laid flowers and lighted candles by Eternal light.
Additionally, the third time ever on June 22 at 18:00 the action “Candle of Memory” organized by Krasnodar administration youth department will happen at Zhukov garden square. In the course of arrangements exhibit items of Military Glory exhibition hall, weapons of World War II and military hardware of war-time will be showed. All who wants will have the opportunity to watch movie “Krasnodar 1942-1943”.
Lighting of candles compiled in phrase – “We remember!” will be a high point of the event.
