The final promenade concert of the season 2017 was held in the City Garden of Krasnodar

On Sunday, 20 August, the final promenade concert of the Kuban symphony orchestra of Krasnodar creative association "Premiere" was held in the City Garden park. The Mayor of Krasnodar Evgeny Pervyshov with his children came to view the outdoor concert.

"The performances of well-known professional musical groups in parks of the city are always in demand. During the summer, 14 such promenade concerts were performed since the end of May, they were attended by more than 5 000 citizens and guests of Krasnodar. The main repertoire includes classical, modern symphony and jazz music. And of course, these sounds in the open bring the special atmosphere tonight," told the acting Chief of the city's department of culture Irina Udovitskaya.

The site for the final concert was arranged near the colonnade of the City Garden, where 75 musicians sat down. There were some 200 chairs for the viewers, and the rest of the musical event's attendees — about 400 people were watching the concert from the park's walk way.

Kuban symphony orchestra was led by Denis Ivensky. The concert featured the music of Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Franz Lehár, Alexander Glazunov, Johannes Brahms and Dmitry Shostakovich. The performance of Isaak Dunayevskiy's waltz and polka from the film "Kuban Cossacks" was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the foundation of Krasnodar Region.

In 2017 the season of promenade concerts began on May 27. During the summer they took place in two parks — the City Garden and Chistyakovskaya grove — on weekends in the evenings. In the open-air the concerts were given by the Concert wind orchestra led by the Honored Artist of Russia Valentina Spiridonova, the chamber "Premier Orchestra" conducted by Daniil Chervyakov, and the Kuban symphony orchestra under the direction of Denis Ivensky. In this season, the theme of the concert programs was the 80th anniversary of Krasnodar Region foundation.

The project was organized under the program "The development of culture in municipal formation of Krasnodar". The first such open-air concert was held in early summer 2011.
