Head of the capital of Kuban addressed a proposal to Chairwoman of the Central Bank Elvira Nabiullina to choose one of landmarks of Krasnodar for new bills of 200 and 2 000 roubles.
— In the course of the past decade Krasnodar has been among leaders in many spheres. Besides that, Krasnodar is winner of All-Russian competition for the title “The most well-furnished city in Russia”. Krasnodar is a city with a rich history and distinctive culture. We have a lot of monuments of architecture which could be placed on new banknotes, — stated in the letter from Head of Krasnodar addressed to the Central Bank Chairwoman Elvira Nabiullina.
As an example of Kuban capital remarkable buildings Vladimir Evlanov offered St. Catherine Cathedral, State Historical and Archaeological Museum of E.D.Felitsyn, Kuban State Medical University (the former Parochial secondary school for girls), monument obelisk in honor of the 200th anniversary of Kuban Cossacks Army, Triumphal Alexander’s Arch, monument “Cossacks — founders of Kuban land”, Catherine the Great Empress monument and modern sport venue — FC Krasnodar stadium.
In his letter Vladimir Evlanov has also noted that the broad geography represented on current banknotes does not involve the southern Russia. Krasnodar Head expressed confidence that the images of Krasnodar can become a worthful decoration of new Russian bills.
On 12 April 2016 the Bank of Russia declared the decision to supplement the existing range of banknotes with bills of 200 and 2000 roubles. By the opinion of financial experts the emission of new currency notes which is to be started in the end 2017 will facilitate cash payments and save time when paying for goods and services.
