METRO Cash&Carry develops in Krasnodar

Vladimir Evlanov held talks with Managing Director METRO Cash&Carry Russia Pieter Boone in the course of Forum Sochi-2014. Opening of the second world trading brand wholesale store in Krasnodar became the main topic.

– Over recent years Krasnodar has acquired status of the largest trading platform of Russian South. The largest world and Russian retail chains including such giants as “Auchan”, “Magnit”, “Lenta” and others are represented in the city. Opening of one more “METRO” will have positive impact on the development of the city infrastructure. This relates not only to new workplaces and growth of taxation basis but also optional capabilities for the development of small and medium-sized and restaurant businesses which are first of all targeted by centers of small-scale wholesale “METRO Cash&Carry”, – Vladimir Evlanov said.

The meeting happened at Krasnodar stand. Vladimir Evlanov acquainted Mr. Boone with Kuban capital exposition. They looked at possible places of positioning of the second “METRO” at the main model of Krasnodar with the city center and suburbs pattern on it.

–  Krasnodar is in field of our interest at the moment. Sales ratio has greatly grown in recent years and if comparing with average performance all around the country then in whole in Krasnodar it is above the average. We feel that there are perspectives for growth and there is demand which is still not covered to the full extent, – Pieter Boone remarked.

Also Director General of “METRO Cash&Carry” added that their stores are focused on small and medium-sized businesses because they are meant for owners of restaurants, cafés, bars, hotels, consumer service and catering enterprises etc. Active development of economy in this segment in Krasnodar creates additional opportunities for expanding presence in the city, raises its investment attractiveness.

–  This proposal is certainly of great interest for us. So we’ll continue exploring the question and searching for an appropriate ground dedicated to a new “METRO” store, – Vladimir Evlanov said.

The history of “METRO Cash&Carry” has started in 2000. First two trading centers were opened in November 2001 in Moscow. Russia has become the 21st country where representatives of small and medium-sized businesses have the opportunity to take advantage of “METRO Cash&Carry” conception.

During several years “METRO Cash&Carry” has raised into the largest market competitor and taken the leading position.

As of today the Russian division of “METRO Cash&Carry” Company has opened 68 trading centers in 45 regions within the country. Number of employees is about 20 thousand people. “METRO Cash&Carry” center of small-scale wholesale opened in Krasnodar to the address Rostovskoe Shosse St. in December 2004.
