Delegation from Kuban capital took part in the ceremony of submarine ship “Krasnodar” keel laying

Construction of a new submarine ship which is to begin service in the Russian Navy was officially started at enterprise «Admiralty Shipyards» in St. Petersburg today.

— It is very honorable and valued matter that this submarine will bear the name of our Kuban capital. Krasnodar has especial stance on commemoration work of heroes and valorous feats of our country military history, on veterans and patriotic upbringing of the younger generation. In the following the city will take on a part of obligations as to this submarine ship. And surely we expect that its crew will be formed from our naval men, — first vice-chairman of Krasnodar City Duma Victor Timofeev commented. He headed Krasnodar delegation at keel laying ceremony.

Chief of law-enforcement coordination department Vitaliy Kosenko was also on Krasnodar delegation.

Keel laying ceremony took place at manufacturing workshops of OJSC «Admiralty Shipyards». It was participated by Director General of «Admiralty Shipyards» Alexander Buzakov and deputy commander-in-chief of the Navy of Russia Victor Bursuk.

During the ceremony a board with engraved image of the boat and inscription «Big diesel-electric torpedo-missile-launching submarine „Krasnodar“ B-265» was solemnly installed in housing base of new submarine.

«Krasnodar» submarine is the fourth diesel-electric powered submarine ship which is constructed within the project 636 that is being implemented by OJSC «Admiralty Shipyards» for Black Sea Navy of Russia. Its construction will take nearly three years. Totally the enterprise will construct 6 new generation submarines.

The first in range diesel-electric powered submarine ship — «Novorossiysk» has been already constructed and currently undergoes tests. Another two submarines — «Rostov-on-Don» and «Stary Oskol» are under construction now. It is considered that all these ones will be included into submarine contingent of Black Sea Navy and will base at Novorossiysk naval base.
