Kuban capital City Garden hosted sports festival dedicated to All-Russian Olympic day. The event was attended by Head of Krasnodar Vladimir Evlanov.
— 18 Olympic champions and dozens of World and European champions live in the capital of Kuban. We take pride in having these world sports achievements. Today’s festival, I’m sure, will promote sports movement in our city. Dozens of sports and children grounds are being constructed within walking distance in residential blocks. Year by year new big sports facilities are emerging. We are creating new bicycle paths which in the near term can link all the microdistricts of the city. There is the growing number of people who want doing sport in Krasnodar, — Vladimir Evlanov said.
The event was also attended by Krasnodar Region Minister of sport Lyudmila Chernova, Deputy Head of Krasnodar Aleksey Kopaigorodsky, Krasnodar City Duma deputy Dmitry Kolomiets, Olympic Games champions Stanislav Kulinchenko and Irina Karavaeva, Paralympic Games medal winner Vladimir Krivulya and world champion in boxing Dmitry Pirog.
— Today we honour sports — a big world uniting all people all over the planet. Sport is health, beauty and boldness. It depends on us to decide to become members of this big sports team and live in the world of sport and health. I wish all of you the sporting spirit and new victories, — Lyudmila Chernova said.
Representatives of state and municipal sports institutions of Krasnodar, fitness-centres and sports clubs presented their exhibition stands in the City Garden. Within the park there were thematic platforms related to various sports. Organizers arranged street basketball tournament, teams of municipal sports institutions participated in “Cheerful Starts”.
Vladimir Evlanov had a look at the presented expositions, talked to sports schools trainees and their parents, directors of the schools.
— This year we are to create new ten multipurpose sports grounds and accelerate the construction of some sports facilities in different microdistricts of the city. Particularly, big sport complexes should be opened in Starokorsunskaya and Yelizavetinskaya villages. Such sport and recreation center was opened in Novoznamenskiy microdistrict lately, — Vladimir Evlanov said.
Entertainment events and competitions in the City Garden will be held for the whole day. Street-ball, power extreme, table tennis, darts and chess grounds will be opened until late in the evening. Besides that, all the guests have an opportunity to make an acquaintance with sporting weapons exhibition, to take part in photo- and autograph sessions will famous Kuban athletes.
