50 new trams and 30 trolleybuses are to appear on public transport routes of Krasnodar in 2015

We need significantly renovate public transport vehicle fleet in Krasnodar by the summer of 2015. Such a task was announced by Governor of the Region Alexander Tkachev in the course of working meeting on the development and improvement of Kuban capital.

— Life activity of big megalopolis is impossible without modernization of public transport system. Public transport vehicles should be modern and equipped with air condition systems. It is especially important for our southern city. The next year our city is to purchase at least 50 new trams and 30 trolleybuses on conditions of a lease. In such a way we need bring percentage of renovated public transport to 70% in the next year or two. The main goal of such changes is to force citizens to use comfortable public transport and to the maximum extent remove personal transport from the city center, — Alexander Tkachev said.

The working meeting was also participated by first Vice-Governor of Krasnodar Region Dzhambulat Khatuov, the city Head Vladimir Evlanov, Regional Minister for construction, architecture and road facilities Valery Zhukov, main architect of Krasnodar Region Yuri Rysin, Deputy Heads of Krasnodar, Heads of urban districts.

— The last year public transport vehicle fleet was renovated by almost a third. And we will continue the work in this year. I consider that up to 90 new large buses will appear on public transport routes in the closest future, — Vladimir Evlanov said.

Presently, according to the department of transport and environment protection daily public transport vehicles (trams, trolleybuses and buses of municipal unitary enterprise “Krasnodar tram and trolleybus directorate”) transports 380-400 thousand passengers, one third of the total number by trolleybuses. Another part of citizens, nearly 127 thousand people (30%) use services of private carriers — low capacity buses (shuttle buses). 25 tram cars, 36 trolleybuses and 10 buses were purchased and 16 tram cars overhauled in the course of 2013.

We remind that after working tour around regional center Kuban Governor Alexander Tkachev held the meeting in Krasnodar administration where he set tasks concerning improvement and development of regional capital.
