Krasnodar citizens welcomed participants of patriotic car run

Participants of the car run “Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk – Sevastopol 2015” dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War arrived in the capital of Kuban. Thematic action “Let’s defend our Great Victory” took place near the Eternal Light on Square of Memory of Heroes.

— Today we live in an uneasy time when some people are perpetually trying to rewrite the history.  We must not let this happen. We honour our heroes and look up to their feats. The postwar generation gets knowledge of the war through stories, books and documentary films. Our grandfathers and great-grandfathers have suffered much, lost their brother-soldiers on battlefields and poured their blood onto the flame of war. They did it for us and Fatherland.  Our sacred duty is to keep the memory of Victory Soldiers and their immortal feat, — Chairwoman of Krasnodar City Duma Vera Galushko said.

The event was participated by Assistant Secretary of Krasnodar local division of the party “United Russia” Vladimir Nedilko, Chairman of Krasnodar city veterans council and deputy of Krasnodar Region Legislative Assembly Ivan Rybalko, frontline soldiers, representatives of regional and local youth non-governmental organization, schoolchildren and students.

Pupils of children school of arts №13 and solo singers of Krasnodar Regional Philharmonic did a performance before people present. The car run participants presented a copy of Victory Banner. The ceremony concluded with laying flowers and wreaths to the Eternal Light.

Then car run participants drove along central streets of the city. During the day they met with Krasnodar veterans of the Great Patriotic War.

As it has been reported earlier, the aim of the car run is a patriotic upbringing of the rising generation, strengthening of Russia’s territorial unity, creation of a unique book of the Great Patriotic War veterans’ memories.    

In the course of the car run which has started on April 3 in the Russian Far East. Nine cars drive through the country from Sakhalin Region to the Republic of Crimea. They have travelled via cities of the Far East, Siberia, the Volga Region, the Republic of Tatarstan, Sankt-Petersburg, Moscow, Voronezh and Rostov Regions. Krasnodar Region became the next-to-last, the 23rd region, which they visit.

Then the car run participants go to hero-city Novorossiysk, from where in Sevastopol. The latter will host the finish of this patriotic marathon on May 20.

Organizers plan to exhibit the future book “Veteran’s diary. True-life history of the war” in a museum of Crimea, translate it to various languages and send to other countries in order this to become a special call for peace.

The collected real stories of the Great Patriotic War will be also posted in Internet on the web-site of the project “Heroes of our time”. The process of the book creation involves movie directors, historians, writers and scenarists.
