A new three section tram “Metelitsa” gets on the route № 5 in Krasnodar

The tram will work in the city in testing mode for three months. Presentation of new tram was held in Eastern Tram Depot today. Vice-Governor of Kuban Andrey Alekseenko and Head of Krasnodar evaluated the novelty.

— In Krasnodar the tram has always been one of most important modes of public transport which is used by nearly 70 percent of all citizens. We concentrate on it. Today we and all the citizens are to evaluate a new low-floor tram “Metelitsa” made in Belarus and complying with all the latest requirements. I’m sure that citizens will duly appreciate its remarkable abilities, — Vladimir Evlanov said.

The event was participated by Vice-Governor of Kuban Andrey Alekseenko, Chief designer of the company “Stadler Minsk” Aleksey Kovetskiy and Krasnodar Tram and Trolleybus Directorate Head Aleksey Knyazev.

Aleksey Knyazev and Aleksey Kovetskiy told Vladimir Evlanov about all technical peculiarities of this tram model. Tram “Metelitsa” 85300M is manufactured by company “Stadler Minsk” in Belorussia. Its seating capacity is 60 passengers, total capacity is up to 250 passengers. The tram has 8 doors, high speed – 75 km/h. Configuration of the vehicle, tram-cars of which are offered in bright yellow colour, includes the system of navigation. “Metelitsa” is also equipped with the system of video and audio informing and video surveillance.

For the convenience of the passengers there are electrical outlets 220V and USB plugs to charge mobile electronic devices in a tram-car. Car body frame is made of low-alloyed steel and sheathed with aluminium panels that extends its life-time and facilitates technical maintenance. Tram-cars are provided with air-conditioning and heating systems.

For the disabled people the tram has special areas adapted to wheelchairs with safety belts and ramps. The vehicle has two “heads” and doors on both sides. Car body frame, the fragments of side shell plating, electrical facilities, plastic panels and glasses are made from materials of the Russian and Belorussian suppliers. Such trams have already been put into operation in England, Germany and Switzerland. In Russia the tram has worked in testing mode in Moscow and Samara.
