Vladimir Evlanov: Modern three-section tramways are the future of public transport in Krasnodar

For the first time ever new three-section tramway “Vityaz” went to a route in Krasnodar. One of those who took part in ceremonial event was Head of the capital of Kuban Vladimir Evlanov.

— In Krasnodar a tramway has always been one of the most important modes of public transport and we stake on it generally. It is of the essence that we have a branched tramway network. However a worn-out state of carriage rolling stock remains one of the main problems. I am glad that today our vehicle park is supplied with a new home-made tramway which is not inferior to European counterparts. I am sure that citizens of Krasnodar will quickly appreciate the possibilities of the vehicle. It is important that number of such tramways becoming more and more in our city and today we have all necessary opportunities for that, — Vladimir Evlanov said.

At the premises of municipal unitary enterprises KTTD innovative vehicle — tramway “Vityaz” model 71-931was presented to Vladimir Evlanov by Head of “Transportation systems” Company Felix Vinokur.

— Such a tramway admits up to 320 passengers. It consists of three interconnected sections. In other words within a tramway, a passenger can freely pass from one end to the other. That makes difference with usual Krasnodar’s two-section tramways consisting of separate trams. New tramway is equipped with wireless Internet and surveillance cameras, — Felix Vinokur said.

Another feature of new tramway — several modes of doors opening. As it is in a usual tramway driver can simultaneously open all doors from a driving cab. Besides that, there is a mode of forced opening when passengers themselves through a special button on a door open only those doors which they need.

Tramway “Vityaz” model 71-931 is low-floor vehicle, adapted for carrying physically challenged people, fitted with a heating system, has low power consumption. Passenger compartment of the vehicle is equipped with air-conditioning system which is especially important at the high summer temperatures. Tramway speed — 75 km/h, working lifespan — 30 years.
