Today a working meeting on the development of Kuban capital bicycle infrastructure was held under the chairmanship of city’s Head in Krasnodar administration.
— Bicycling is actively developing in the city where people of all ages interestedly go in it and bicycle trips have really become a kind of family recreation for many citizens. Works on the development of bicycle infrastructure, creation of new bicycle routes should be carried out at a quickened pace. We need be bent on creation of new bicycle paths all around the city. Krasnodar should be opened for bicycling and we should dedicate our summer time to evolvement of this healthy interest, — Vladimir Evlanov said.
The meeting was participated by chief of the department of road and bridge maintenance Mikhail Zharkov, chief architect of the city Igor Mazurok, chief of the department of physical training and sports Andrey Brizhak, chief of the department of trade and consumer services Irina Kosinkova, director of municipal institution “Consumer service” Dmitry Krivonosov, deputy chief of State Inspectorate For Traffic Security office in Krasnodar Vladimir Svinukhov, organizer of group “Cycle Krasnodar” Konstantin Trudik, coordinator of public organization “Cycle Kuban” Artem Kovalev, members of students, youth and pupils council under the Head of the city.
A new bicycle route is to be opened along Krasnaya Street in the closest time. The route will work from Sovetskaya to Budennogo Streets on weekends and holidays and from Budennogo to Ofitserskaya Streets with 24/7 availability. There is also an intention to arrange parking places for bicycles at Pushkin Square.
Existing bicycle route in the section from City Garden to Turgenevskiy Bridge along Postovaya Street is supposed to be extended up to Botanic garden and forth as far as German Village and Yeysk road. Bicycle path will also appear at Vostochno-Kruglikovskaya Street after completion of its reconstruction. Roadways for bicyclists are planned to open along Turgeneva, Zipovskaya and Kotlyarova Streets.
— In accordance with current plans bicycle paths are to be created until the end of this year at 13 streets and their length will be increased from existing 14 km up to 64 km. All bicycle paths will be provided with special markings and road signs referring to recently enacted National State Standard, — Mikhail Zharkov said.
Additionally in Krasnodar repair bays must be created and properly fitted where bicyclists will be able to put their equipment right. Repair bays are to appear in all districts of the city, - Vladimir Evlanov stated.
It is a reminder that the first bicycle route went into operation in Krasnodar more than two years ago.
